I got the turquoise inlays in today. I'll be sanding the epoxy and the fret board in the morning. The Turquoise; I was at the flea market a few months ago, and I was walking by this guy's booth. He had boxes of the stuff and abalone. He had them in baggies. But of course it was a day I had only a few buck in my wallet. He asked me what I was going to do with it, so we got to talking about me building guitars, he got to telling me about someone he knows that also builds guitars. I though for a moment I said too much. So I then asked him how much did you want for the turquoise and for the abalone, he looked at me and said "oh... give me a buck for each" Wish I had more money that day I would have bought everything he had. But like I said I only had a few dollars and wound up getting one bag each. But what a find! Yes it's real turquoise and abalone. the turquoise is in chips from where it was being made into jewelery, it works out great for doing guitars and other things. EB

Man... I getting to where I am thinking of turning this build into fire wood. I was putting in the frets and wouldn't you know it one of the frets I was putting in chipped out the fret board. I was almost done putting in the frets. So I am trying to repair it. I'll see how it turns out in the morning. The inlays came out cool looking! So anyway if it does not come out this time I will cut the neck off and turn it into a bolt on neck. I'm tired of messing with it. OH well... EB

It's gonna be so cool when it's finished, hang in there man. How bad is the chip? Do you have it so you can glue it back in? Is it so big that without the chip you can't fill with dust and CA?

I did find the chip. I used epoxy to put it back on since I had to also fix the grove for the fret wire. I used some veneer I had and the epoxy to fill in the grove. I didn't do anything to it today. I worked on my shop all day. I mad me a new table out of some wood I had laying around. So, the guitar will look rally cool once it is done. So like I tell everyone... it's best to leave it alone for while and find something else to do. Thanks for the encouragement! EB

OK sorry to say, this build is not going well at all. So I am going to cut the neck off this and make a new neck or just make it a bolt on.
I am really not happy with this build. I love the body, but the neck I made for it, is just not working out. Don't know why just isn't working. The fret board I put on it, if you remember chipped and the fix turned out not to be up to my standards. So I don't want to pull the fret board off again. I don't think the neck will take another removal of the fret board. So I might end up making a new neck for it, or like I said I'll make it a bolt on neck and use one of the neck I have on hand. EB

OK here is an other one I am in the proses of redoing. (please not there are no pictures please keep reading)
The neck on this just went all kind of wrong. So I decided to make a new neck. I just finished (almost finished) the new neck. I cut the old one off and now have the new in place. Not glued in yet.
I have some things I am doing to this build that will change it from what it was. Sorry that there no pictures of the build of how it looked before on this post. But I will be posting new pictures as the redo comes along.
This one too I used some (poly) on it and this one too it just peels right off. So It too will be going back to bare wood and starting over.
So far the new neck look really good. It's a neck I made for another guitar, but decided to use it for this build. Once I get the finish stripped off, I'll start to post the new pictures. Back when there were pictures on this build, Photo Bucket had some problems and I wound up losing almost all my pictures. So now it looks like they have fixed. (I hope)
So I hope everyone can see not all builds go the way we plan. But I don't like to give up on them if I can help it. I hate to through away wood.

yes it is a bummer... But I think it's going to come out even better. Just by putting on the new neck has changed it so much. I am really liking it now. can't wait to get her up and going. Hope to have some picture of her this weekend. That if I take time to take some pictures. HA!
It's our anniversary this weekend. My wife and I will be married for 41 years. Wow! Where has the time gone?

Sorry no pictures yet. I have been in a lot of pain again, so I haven't felt like doing anything.

Been a long time on this build too. Looks like I have deleted the pictures on this one sometime ago. Well, I got this one out of storage the other day and have decided to finish building it. To start with, everything that could go wrong on a build did on this one... I had to cut the neck off and make a new neck for this build. What happened to the old neck? Well, it twisted and bowed. NOT HAPPY! So it now has a Maple neck, (not glued in yet) but so far it seems to be stable. The other problem I had was I also used that acrylic clear on it, and like the LP I had to strip it off and start all over. So this too, will give something to do for a while. I can't wait to get this one up and going too! Again I'll be posting pictures as this re-build goes along. EB

latestrummer, My storage area is getting down there these days. Not too many builds left.
I think I have two more that I never did finish, do to one thing or another.
I have given a lot of stuff away in the 3 or 4 months to people that wanted to pickup where I left off. I had some body's and neck's that I started on, but just gave up on them, so I wound up giving them away. I have been trying to unload a lot of my stuff, because of some things that have changed in my life. Looking forward to a busy next year.
