OK here is the deal on this build... The other day I went to finish this build, I had it in my bedroom leaning up against the wall, and when I picked it up I found that someone had knocked it over. So all a long the back side of the guitar starting at the peg head all the way down the neck into the body was a massive scratch and loss of clear! So it turns out it was the I don't know ghost. There are 3 that live in my house, I am one of the 3 so that leaves two my wife and my Mom and of course they don't remember knocking it over. So now I am in the process of re clear coating it. I started sanding it down the other day ( week a go) I have a long ways to go. I haven't been able to work on any builds this week do to some health issues. So I don't if or when I'll get back on any of my builds. EB

it sure did bum me out to find it this way. So can't over spilled milk! So I sucked it up and now I have to refinish it. So as soon I start felling better, it will be one of my top projects to get done.

OK got the back of this build sanded and re-cleared coated. so here are some pictures of it. Sorry I didn't think to get pictures of how it was messed up. But she is looking good now! After a few weeks of dry time I am hoping to be playing it. Can hardly wait to play her! EB

I would get close ups but every time I try it looks blurry. So I don't post them. My camera is just an inexpensive one not one of the high end ones that some use. Plus I am not a good picture taker. Then if I post too big a picture on here I get some that complain there too big so... I guess I can't make everyone happy. But I'll keep trying. EB

I can see the dilemma! If you host photos on picasa for example you can show smaller versions in the forum and hyperlink them to the original size on the picasa page I think this build is looking very nice and I was in need of some guitar p0rn

Hey there everyone. I need some help with this project. Does anyone have a jack plate? I seemed to have missed place the one I had for this, and I looked trough what I have left in parts and can't seem to find one. If you have one can you let me know what you want for it? It can be squire or oval, would like it to be black but chrome would be fine. Thanks for any help! I would rather try and get it here first, other than eBay. Other than that set back the build is coming along OK. Out of all the builds I have going on (they may not all get done because of lack of parts...) this one is giving me the most fits, the one I really wanted to go good and be a player by now just keeps giving me fits. Well, more on that later. EB

OK I had something bad happen to guitar again! There was one fret that was giving me fits, so I went to pull it out and wouldn't you know it a big chunk of the fret board came off with it. So now I am looking at making a new fret board for it. So it will be on hold for a while. Too bad so sad! EB

This build just keeps getting worse. I heated up the fret board to take it off, but alder and walnut and glue really sticks together and I could not get it to come off clean. So yesterday I tried to sand and scrape off what was left behind. Well, it didn't come out so good. So now what do I do with this project? Do I cut the neck off, and make a new neck, or do I take another neck I already have (bolt on) and convert it to a glue on neck. The bolt on is maple on maple.
I am really disappointed in all my builds at the moment. None of them are coming out the way I want them too. I have never had this many things go wrong in my builds. OH well, I guess this is another learning curve of life for me to go through. EB

Do a new neck that will set like a PRS. So you can route it in nice and tight. But that would mean another neck because a bolt on won't go on that clean.

If I make a new neck, I can use some of that cool rosewood I used for the Rose build for the fret board. I just scored on some really nice African mahogany, I did some trading for it. I might just do that. I don't have any walnut left that I can use for a neck. But I think I have maple left that I can lam with the mahogany. I can reuse the truss rod. I think this time I'll change the head stock too. I even have some of the walnut I used for the body, so I can make or cut some veneer for the headstock. OK I talked myself into it. I'll start a new neck today. But it will take some time to build a new neck, because I like to let the neck blank set for a while before I go cutting on it. I was going to use a blank I made up with walnut and red wood, but the red wood clashes with the body too much. But I guess I could stain it. Hummmm... Thanks for the input Dane! EB

OK... here are 3 neck blanks I am working on. I cut up some today for a neck blank for this build. The wood is; mahogany, maple, and walnut. Here is the blank being glued up. Here are the other two I am working on. One is all Poplar and the other one is redwood and walnut. Well, that's all I have for today. EB
