It's a long haul. We have moments of feeling better, then the fervor hits and we will sleep all day. But I'll try and keep all in the loop of things. EB

Respect Eddie. Finding the commitment to keep us in the loop must take some handling. I'm sure I speak for the others in saying thanks. Get fixed soon Brother.

Looks like I'll back on this build real soon! I had to do some rework on the peg head design. I feel it looks much better. My peg head design is the one I'll be using on all my guitars that I build for myself.
This guitars neck is 25" scale, with a 12" radius. This is my top of the line for all my guitars. I like the feel of it the 25" scale and the 12" radius. For me it's the best.
So, what is coming up will be the placement of the EB logo done in leather. I need to cut the head stock to size and profile it. I am thinking of doing binding around the peg head. Something I rarely do to my guitars. But since I am putting the leather on the peg head, I feel that it would ad to the look of things.
Once that is done, then it will be on to the carving of the neck. I also need t put in the side markers.
I can hardly believe that I am going to get back on this build. I am still having some problems in my energy levels and have to take a lot of rests in doing things. But I am plugging along. EB

Well alright. I started out to work on the neck on this here guitar that I building but.... I started on the body. no real reason why, just did.
here is the body blink before I started on it. it rough sawn African mahogany.
I sanded the heck out of the back. It came out real nice!
here is one side of the body cut on my band saw.
here is shape all cut out.
OK I know I said I don't like doing the horns on a build. But that new osculating sander did a good job of cleaning up the horn.
That sander did a great job at cleaning up the sides too!
This tool is worth what I gave for it. The body is the first one I have done on this sander. It is doing a great Job!
I still have a lot of sanding to do. I have a small part of the body sides to clean up. Plus I need to sand the top smooth. I use my new hand belt sander and my hand sander to lean up the back. So, I'll do the same for the top. Once I get the side and top sanded then I'll be looking at routing the binding channel. Plus I would like to get the routing done for the pickups, control cavity and maybe the neck pocket.
I don't think I'll get all that done in one day. But I would like to get it done so I can glue the top of the guitar (leather). Once it is on then I'll do the bindings.
Well, this is all I had in me today. It did take me a while to do this today. I can work about 20 to 30 min. Before I have to go take a rest. But, little by little I am able to do more than I did the day before. EB

I like the look of African Mahogany.
Is that Bauer brand from Harbor Freight? I've seen lots of vids with the ridged one. They look the same. I don't have room to leave one set up but they seem very useful.

It came with all that too. But right now I am liking the belt sander side of it. This one is smaller then some of the other ones I have seen. but in guitar building you really don't need big equipment to have fun doing things.
I am like the Mahogany. It sanded super nice. Cant wait to do some carving on it.

Well, I have not done much of anything on the Build in the last day or so.
Been doing other things. I decided to work on my router table. I am going to close it in. I seen a guy take a sound meter on you tube that showed that enclosing the the router that it reduced the noise by 80%. Plus I have been wanting to do that for some time now.
So I went to Home Depot and got me some that play wood with gold in it. I cannot believe what they are getting for plywood these days. Just not right! So expensive! And I bought the cheapest they had. Just over $30.00 for an 4X8 sheet. I need two of them to do what I am wanting to do.
I was going to use pallet wood. but after looking at how I would have to take a pallet apart to use it. I decided that the price of the plywood didn't sound so bad. Plus they cut the plywood up for me for free. Now that put me way ahead of the game. LOL!

Eddie, Sheet goods went up so much in the summer it was insane. 1/2" OSB was selling for over 80$ a sheet. Everything in building went crazy 250' roll of 12-2 went from 79$ to over 200$ it's coming down now buts it's been really bad .

Almost done with the table router. Letting the paint dry. I'll post some picture of it once I get everything back in place. LOL! EB

Well, I worked on the peg head for the last 2 days.
I like to drill out the tuners holes before I trim off the back for the angle of the peg head. This let you drill through without any tear out once the angle is cut in.
Here it is with tuner hole all drilled.
Here is the leather Logo waiting to be cut... Hum...
I decided to go with a circle and not my original design. I thinks it worked out better.
Here it is being glued in.
Here we go. it in lade into the beg head. Looking pretty cool I think! Glad I went with the circle.

Now that my EB logo is on, it's on to carving the neck.
I start off with a rat tail file. I file in at the top of the neck then do the same thing again at the heal. I get this part as close to the roundness I like. I use this jig to help me out.
Once I get the two notches in, I then use a spoke shave to get a lot of the wood bulk off. Sorry I did take a picture of the spoke shave.
I take off a lot of wood with the spoke shave then once I get to a point, I stat to use scrapers. The scrapers too will take off a lot of wood fast.
Here is the other side.
OK, I don't think I have much left in me to keep carving necks by hand. I am in a hole lot of pain right now for what I did today. So I am going to look into other ways of carving necks. The carve is going pretty well. What I use to do in day now take me 2 to 3 days to do. Yes I know I had been sick but this neck has kicked my butt. I struggled so hard today to get this neck to the point I have it right now. Still have another day of scraping and sanding and even then it's not done. Wont be done until after the joins the body. Once that happen then it's on to a lot more sanding.
Well, that is it for me today. Thank to all of ya that keep on checking in on this build. EB

Hey Eddie, the leather looks really good. I still carve my necks by hand and I like it that way because I have more control. It is bit of work but I'm not in production on these things so I can take it for now.

I like what I'm seeing here Eddie. Go at your own speed and you'll enjoy it better than trying to maintain what you thought you might do. The leather is a piece of work too.

Got the neck done as far as I am going to take it. Once it's set into the body I will finish it up. But it's really close to finish.
These are the tools I used.
Now, I did have a miss hap happen when I was cutting the back of the peg head angle. My band saw for whatever reason decided it wanted to drift on me. It would up not cutting even and cut into where the truss rod adjustment is. So I wound up gluing it back on. Not I have two lines in the back of the peg head. So I am thinking of make some kind of a veneer for it to cover up the lines. I was heart broken when this happened. But I didn't want to make another neck. So, now I have to come with another change.
