I feel, as a maker of guitars, I have always struggled with is time. When I started out, I wanted to get my guitars done as fast as I could. I still struggle with that even to this day. But after watching many videos of how manufactures do their guitars, one will find out that many of then guitars will hang for up to a year before they even do any color sanding on them. In other words, they do not rush what they are making.
May of the build I see on YT are rushed, done as fast as they can do them. If today I was going to build to sell, I would make a lot of guitars at one time, do a finish on them and let them hang for a long time before putting them all together. Including the color sanding and buffing. I did one guitar that I let hang for 6 months. Not because I wanted to, it was because of some things going on it my life at that time. But I have to say it's one of the best finishes that I ever did. That was on my ES 335 looking one. Even though I used the Minwax tung oil finish on it. It to me is still the best finish on my guitars. Was it because it hung out to dry for so long? Don't really know. Maybe it was because I didn't rush it.
I think we all get into trouble when we rush things. I think that is what has happened here on this build. So, I am taking a step back and slowing things down. Plus I not in a good place right at this moment it time.

Deadlines and quotas kill quality.

Still working on this. I did some more sanding and did sand through in some spots. So, I had to redo some of the stain. That made me do some changes in the finish.
Now that some of the stain went over the Minwax tung oil finish, I am thinking of doing a few coats of Minwax lacquer over it. Only because I don't want to wipe off the stain by ribbing on it.
I am going to do some testing beforehand. But, it's supposed to rain here for the weekend, and that will not be good for spraying lacquer. So it looks like I'll have to put it on hold until the weather changes.
But it is looking real good! I like it the way it looks now! Better than before. The stain took well over the tung oil finish. I have used the Minwax tung oil finish over lacquer, but not the other way around. But it should work out. If I remember right, I did read somewhere that they are compatible. But I will find out when I do some testing.
I think while I am waiting on the weather to change, I may go ahead and do some sound videos on my 3 amps. I think I'll start with my Eagle Amp. That is the one that I made. I have put off showing it for many years now. I have posted about it a few time, but never have done a video on it. I'll even post some of the pictures of the build in the video.

Like said, finishing always seems to be the hardest part.

The real work -a-day world is a whole different bag. I've many years as a craftsman meeting expectations of others. And to be honest I still do this with guitars and repairs. If I tell a client I will have a guitar ready by a certain time I will do everything in my power to make it happen. But remember we build guitars for fun and profit. And you know what I say about fun.

Update in the Glitter guitar.
Here are a few pictures.
OK... I think I am on the way of getting this guitar in a finish. This is not pretty much at a stopping point.
Here is the back side.
This is what it looks like after 2 cans of lacquer. I don't know how the lacquer is going to work out. But it's on there now. Looking pretty good. Now I'll let it sit for a couple of weeks and see where it goes from there. I know I still need to finish cleaning up the fret board and level the frets.
But it's looking pretty good. Been a long while since I used lacquer. Of course, this is the new kind of lacquer. The cans say it completely dries in 24 hours. But we all know how that goes. LOL!
I do hope I can get this done soon! I want to get back on the P90 build.
Once the P90 guitar is done, things will come pretty much to a stop. As far as making guitars. I do have a few that I will be doing some work on. Trying to decide if I will make videos or not of the guitars I'll be working on. Guess I'll have to wait and see. EB

Catching up on all the posts. Was traveling for a few days without my comp. My mom passed and we had a service in Co springs for her.
The guitar is looking very good. Was it a 2K lacquer?

No, it's regular lacquer. I didn't see any of the 2k on the self.
My daughter finally made the "flower power" flower for the peg head. The flower she made looks real close to the one on the old neck peg head. I'll be putting that on soon.

Coming along, the flower sticker looks really good. Your daughter did a great job on it.
