Definately Matsumoku factory. Made in Japan mid to late 60s.
Google search Crown Professional Guitar, and you'll find more people wondering where the heck this guitar came from! A hofner style bass pops up a lot. And a classical guitar that says Pasadena California on the label! Probably imported by a company in California. Kinda like what Rondo Music and St. Louis Music do today.
The Crown Guitars seemed to be a higher-end Teisco. Much like Univox.

I had such a hard time with the wiring on this, it has sat for several years near completion but never complete. Also, my wife had a baby (quite a surprise for a 46 year old!), and the hard parts become even harder. For me, that's the soldering.
But I have become determined to get it done.
I pulled out the push pull switches, even though they worked when I isolated each pup. There are a lot of wires traveling all over the place in there! I had almost everything working - I decided I would add the tone selector switch later. When I tried to load it, the wires got a little twisted. So today, I made a better rigid template for the crown and the 2 other hollowbodies I have in line to fix. I'm going to make a harness like those Gretsch ones they sell- clean and neat!
I hope to have it done this weekend.

Yes the semi-hollows are a pain. Especially if the pick up routes don't go through into the body. Finessing everything through the F holes is a though proposition.

I lost the screws for the pickup rings. Yet another setback.

I'm waiting for the screws so I can be sure everything is properly placed and spaced.
I also seem to have the cough that won't go away.
