I don't know if I said or not but scale of this guitar is 25" with 24 frets. This is also the first time I used the 25" scale and the first for 24 frets. To use this scale on this guitar with the 24 frets I had to make some adjustments to the plans. So It looks like a LP double cut but it now has a PRS scale. I have also been experimenting with fret markers. I have some abalone, and turquoise. Not too sure on that yet. I also thought of using copper wire as markers both on the side of the neck and on the fret board. But again I'm still thinking. I may just end up getting something else or I may just leave it plain. It just hasn't spoken to me yet! HA!

Looking good!
Can I ask a daft question? Where are the control knobs going?

Looking good! Can I ask a daft question? Where are the control knobs going? The plans call for a volume, tone and a 3 way LP switch. I was going to put 4 pots with no switch in it. But now I am thinking of the two pot with a switch and one being a push pull. But everything is subject to change. They would go right above the bottom "F" hole. thanks for the question. EB

Well, I did get the green binding on. Think after this I'm going back to wood bindings. Today I also got the heal ruffed in. I had a real hard time with the binding. My 3m tape did not want to stick, then once I got it to hold the binding on I could not get the tape to come off. So I don't know if it was worth the work putting the binding on. Plus the binding I was sent is a little narrow, But I like it because it's not too shocking to the eye. EB

Binding likes to be scraped. You get to scrape it a lot. I like your choice of material.

I did do some scraping. But it's already getting cold here. So I may not do anything else on this for now. I have to get the Rose done before it get any colder.

We have had some good weather here, so I got back on this build. I had forgotten I had these pickups you see in the photos. So I decided to use them for this guitar. They are from the 60's, around 1964. So as you can see I am going with 4 pots on this and it will have a 3 way switch (LP) I have to make the pickup routes a little wider, but that should not be to big a deal. I am also not going to put a rear control cavity on this. I will put in the pots like you would do on an ES335. Through the F holes. As you can also see I'll be using a wraparound bridge. I also use some tung oil on the top to help seal the wood off. It also shows how the wood will look. EB

Yeah, yesterday and today I am hurting pretty bad. But I'm trying to learn to live with it. But there are days when it's hard to deal with.

I think I keep saying the same thing on this build. It just keeps looking awesome. You have built a beautiful guitar here. The spalted maple and the green tortisty binding are way cool. And now with the dog eared pups, very retro classy look. Well done Edwardo.

Hey thanks! Putting those pickups on this build really got me excited! I really like the look it gave to this build. The last time I heard these pickups, they have a really cool jazzy sound to them. I still need to make up my mind about doing an inlay on the fret board. I am thinking of doing inlays like I did on the rose. But I also like the kind that go along the edge of the fret board. I am also thinking of using copper for the fret markers on the front and side of the fret board.
I still need to get or find some 3x3 chrome tuners for this build, all I have are inline ones. So I still have a while to decide on what to do with the inlays.
So tomorrow, I'll get the pickup routs done, the holes for the pots will be drilled, and if things work out I'll get the back of this build in some stain.
As far as the head stock goes, I'm going to print off one of my logos I have been working on. I'll cut it out and then use some spray adhesive to hold it down, paint over it then remove the template. If everything goes good the maple head stock will show though. the head stock will be black, with no bindings. I decided it was just to hard to put the binding on the head stock at this point in time. But I think it will still look good. EB

I got the pickup routs routed bigger, I even got some the staining done on the back. I went ahead did a red mahogany stain. So far it's looking really good. I'll have some more pictures soon. I didn't get the the logo on the head stock, hopping to get to that later on this week. Still, trying to figure out how to get some tuners of this build. I might, when it comes closer to finishing this build I might take them off one of my other builds.

Here is a shot of what I had to do to the fret board to get the pickup rings to fit. I also had to enlarge the pickup routs for the bigger pickups. Here are some pictures of the back. I used red mahogany for the back and sides. These pictures are with a few coats of lacquer on it. I took these picture to show how the bindings are looking. Well, all in all so far so good. I'll let this rest for a day or two then I'll wet sand a little and put on some more clear. I am planning on using at least 3 cans of clear on this build. I might go with a 4th can depending on how it's looking. Once the clear is all on I'm going to let it dry till next spring. Then I'll color sand and buff it out. Maybe by that time I can come up with tuners.LOL! EB
