I miss my Ovation. These are the main two. The 61' Les Paul is just visiting. I just got the blackfaced Bassman back from the shop. Sounding fine. Just got the Marshall cab online agian. It survived a house fire. The Silver face/ hiwatt is my stage combo. farm4.static.flickr.com/3286/3087268720_344e3b3293.jpg

Here is the latest addition to the arsenal - a '75 Standard. I found this through a guy in Minnesota. It reminds me of "Alive"-era Ace Frehley and a high schooler who really wanted a Les Paul. As I told our friend Hoz, this guitar is 10 full pounds of rock n' roll from a time when giants walked the earth, KISS hadn't shamed themselves with "Kiss Meets the Phantom", Burt Reynolds was driving a Trans Am, and to be a Guitar Hero you had to know how to play guitar. Rock on! John

and a high schooler who really wanted a Les Paul. Were you that high schooler that wanted the Les Paul, John?

I wonder how many high schoolers wanted a Teisco? Quick answer: none! Somehow, I'm ending up with all of them! They're cool and cheap. I wired an automotive starter switch in this one to short out the pickups for those really gnarley rock-n-roll solos! I'm giving this guitar to an old buddy. I had to make the chrome mirror guard to avoid cutting pickup holes in the original metal one. The wraparound bridge is from an old Encore guitar (not Gibson). Made the "Abort" decal at work this morning. It's a good player.

Hoz -- That is beyond kewl...the ABORT switch is priceless.
I used to have a link to a guy who made switch rings for Les Pauls. Instead of the mundane "rhythm" and "lead", his would say "RAWK" and "SOLO", with umlauts of course. He would put anything on them -- perfect for a rawking guitar player.
The concept of a kill switch on a loud rock rig is a good one. I used to have an old SG with an on/off switch in place of a tone pot, and it worked particularly well.
Love the display case, too.
John

71 Strat and 83 sheraton II. 2004 rogue bass added later ($80 - thought junior would take up bass but I kept it because its so light weight and EASY to play!). Behringer GMX210 and Fender 30 (circa 1975) can you tell I am old school? (i.e., turntable and open reel 4 ch. recorder)

Thought I'd add some pics to my previous post. The Aria acoustic I listed in the first post. My son Stephen playing it. Stephen is currently 28, the guitar is almost 30. Also listed in the first post. A Samick ES335 copy. I just sold this guitar today. It played very nicely but when I play electric I gotta be able to crank it up without screaming microphonic feed back. And the latest in the arsenal is one of my builds. Teak with a maple capped body and a teak neck with a maple fretboard. dane

Hey I was wonder... how good does that amp sound? I haven't had a chance to try one out. does it come close to a Fender twin? Or is more like a DeVille?

I like the tone that it makes, (until I play beside my friend's Traynor YCV40). To be fair, the Traynor has had more play time and the speaker has loosened up. My Epi is still pretty new and the Celestion Seventy-80 is a bit farty yet. I'd like to switch the speaker for a Celestion Vintage 30 at some point. The Epi was a real bargain at the time with 3 12AX7's and 2 EL84's built in effects. It's got some really nice clean tone, and when you crank the gain it brakes up in a very controlled manner. The fender twin is much brighter sounding, but was also more than 2x the price. I also find a twin to be more amp than I need. I find I can crank this up to a level where the tubes can do their thing, and the neighbors aren't complaining about the noise Chris

Yeah I have the twin. It is a lot of amp. I am wanting to get something not near as heavy. But I love the sound of my twin. I had a Blues DeVille but it had a lot of tube rattle that seemed to get as loud as you can play. So I took it back and got the twin. I liked the Peavey Delta Blues amp and wish I had gotten it because it was not a heavy amp. I think this weekend I'll have to see if I can find the EPI amp and try it out. ;D
