OK I got a lot done today!
I decided to make a veneer for the back of the head stock. This has taken some time to get it far.
Here is the back of the head stock. If you remember I had a huge mishap with my band saw. Here is what it looks like now. The veneer will cover this up. Plus I need to add some wood to it anyways. the peg head is a little under 1/2" thick. I like them to be a little thicker than that. So, this will work out just fine.
Pickup cavity's are routed!
I used my big router to do the job. This wood is so hard. Took 3 passes to get the pickup cavity's to the right depth.
I also finished getting the depth of the neck figured out. I finished routing it. Now the neck is setting where it needs to be.
As you can see I rough cut the body out. Starting to look like a guitar now!
during the cutting out the body, I think my band saw blade is now dull. The last 5" or so, I had a really hard time cutting the wood for this body.
But all in all I feel I had a good day for once! Now I need to rout out the control cavity. I was going to do that today, but after cutting the body out I am super in pain and had to quit for today.
Once the control cavity is done, then I might do the tummy cut and or start drilling like a thousand holes in the top of the body. Once that is done then I'll rout out for the bindings. Oh that will be after I true up the sides of the body. LOL!

Well, one good day and today not so good. Today started out good but it soon all changed.
I did get the side dots put in. I have some cream stock for side markers and that is what I used. Looks good against all the maple. They pop pretty good inside the binding.
I also, got the top part of the veneer flattened. Looks super good! So, the wood is to thin to resaw it. I was going to tape it down to some thicker wood so I could thin it down some more so I can then sand it down to what I need. So glad I am now in the "lets try it out first" mode. I set up my joiner, and started to run a test piece. Well, wouldn't you know it the belt on the planer/joiner broke. So, I found a new one on eBay. But, for some reason eBay would not take my Pay Pal credit. Took me like 3 hours to get that straightened out. So, the parts are on the way. Yep parts. I ordered another set of blades, and bearings for it. I'll rebuild the whole thing. Hope that will keep it going for another 30 years. LOL!
So, other than putting in the side dots and tearing apart the planer and wasting a lot of time on the phone and on line. I didn't get a lot done. So, now everything will have to wait until mid week for me to get back on this build. I have a few doctors appointments this week along with some church stuff that I signed up for. Going to a busy week. I also, on Monday, go in to find out my results of the MRI of my head. I hope it's not bad news...

We lived in an RV for over 2 1/2 years. I loved traveling. But not everything involved hauling a 32 foot 18,000 pound trailer around. But, I could not do it now. To much work. HA! Well, get rested Dane. I think things are going to get busy for ya this year! EB

OK, Weather is everything here. Just yesterday we were at the 80 degree mark. Today we are in the 40s. Supposed to be like that all week. I doubt if I'll get anything done on this build this week. To dang cold to be working outside for me. LOL!
Well, I went to the doctor today to find out what my MRI said. The Doc told me that I am in great shape! I have super small brain shrinkage and with the help of this new drug she put me on it should keep it in check for a long time. The drug will not stop the brain from shrinking, but it will slow it way down. The drug will also help me with memory and clarity of thought. So, I am excited about the outcome. I was not as bad as my last doctor said I was. Yes I got to see the MRI and this doctor took me through it step by step and showed me what they look for. She also said that my brain looks supper healthy.
It's funny to me how that my brain can be that healthy. After being in printing from the 70s until 10 years ago when I got out of it and all of the chemicals I was around working on and painting cars. None of it has effected my brain. LOL! Not to mention all the times I hit my head. One time I hit it hard that it knocked me out. HA! Guess I am a hard head!

Great news Eddie, thank God for that. Also for the built in hard hat. To bad about the weather but you will find something to do. You always do.

This is great and really does sound like positive news for a change Eddie, so long as you are comfortable that the doctor is on the right page, and not just that you are hearing what you want to hear.

This is great and really does sound like positive news for a change Eddie, so long as you are comfortable that the doctor is on the right page, and not just that you are hearing what you want to hear. でつ e&oe ...I have had a lot of MRI's. Some doctors don't go into detail about them. This one took her time and showed me a lot of things about the brain and even told me how most brains look for someone my age. I only had one other doctor in the past that did the same thing with me when it came to reading an MRI. So, yes I feel comfortable with what she was telling me. The drug she has me on has made a difference in a good way of how I am feeling. This doctor spent a lot of time with me and did not rush me off like so many do these days. It was nice for a change to have a caring doctor. I was expecting worse, because of my old doctor. He made it sound like I could die in year or two, but said or did nothing.
I would say anyone that is over the age of 60 should have themselves check out. It wont hurt you. I was told the sooner they can get on it the better. Almost all people will suffer from this. But it's up to the person if they want to get help with it. There are a lot of new drugs out there that do help.
But, yes it was something I like to hear... Good news is always good to hear. I am so thankful that it was not bad news. Many people do die from this. Many people have their brain shrink super fast and some not so fast. It happens faster in most men than woman. I did my research. It is scary to read about. But until a person gets an MRI you really don't know what is going on. Before that it's all guess work.

Got in some of the parts for the Planer/joiner the last two days. But wouldn't you know it the part I need the worst has been delayed. And that's the belt. But I am also waiting on a replacement blade. One of the new ones arrived broken in half. Oh well...
Probable a good things that things are coming slow. I am not having a good time of things this week. My doctor upped my drug to a higher dosage, I feel like I am in LA LA land.
Hope everyone else is doing fine. EB

Well it looks like my belt for the joiner should be here in the next day or two. I don't understand how one part from the same state can get here like in two days and it takes over 2 weeks for another. Hum...
Not too much going on. The weather here is still pretty cold. in the 50's and raining. Little to much weather for me to work on this project. But I did do some planing on the lay out of things.
I had a hard time deciding were I want the controls to go. I don't want them on the Eagle. So, for now this is what I came up with. I don't have a picture if it yet. But I am also drawing out were I would like to drill the holes to help take some weight on the body. I also made the body a little bit bigger. I had to move the neck into the body some and that changed were the leather top will go. So I had to make the body a little bigger. Like a little over a 1/4". That way I know I'll have enough space for the leather top top. I also seen that I will have to make the humbucker rout bigger as well. The full range Fender pickup is larger than a regular humbucker. Trying to decide if I want to make a pickup ring for it or not. More figuring to do...

The leather looks amazing! Talented kid you have their Eddie. Yes! Both of our kids have a lot of talents. the only thing they never got to interested in was music. But in other things such as art they are super good at. My son also still builds cars. He has a 50 merc that he working on. Our daughter does all kinds of art things that she sells. I am really proud of them both.

But once done it will be a real one off guitar. I don't think there will ever be another one like it. This all started between my son and I over me carving out the wood. Then I said something about doing it out of leather. So, I thought that sounded so cool! He made up some designs and we came up with what you all see in the pictures.
