I really fancied a go at a CBG, but I grew tired of trying to find a box on eBay at an even remotely sensible price. Doesn't mean I've ruled it out, just that I can wait. e&oe ...I use to get some of mine form a smoke shop. A lot of time they would give them to me. Then I also knew people that smoked cigars and they would give me the boxes.
I sold all the ones I had last year. I had about 30 to 40 of them.
Now I wish I had them back. I use to do good selling them. I could sell them faster than guitars. LOL! EB

I feel like I got a lot done today. My day started out helping the wife move stuff around in the house.
But did get to start the finish on my other build plus I did a lot to this build as well.
I got the back of this guitar figured out. I had to end up putting some wood in the center to give me enough so I could go all the way across.
I am going to put on 2 hinges so this will open.
In other words it will be my control cover.
I used a 3/8" round over on the back and front. Really cleaned things up.
The body is almost the same size of a Tele.
This is a lot of fun! It has a really good ring to it. I cant wait to hear this thing once it's done. In the next day or two, I would like to see if I can get the neck set in. But I need to finish carving that neck. I also would like to the pickup routs in.
I have not yet ordered the pots, switch, input jack, and the pickups. I may have changed my mind on the pickups on this. Thinking of going with the tele pickups and bridge. Hum... Or may be P90s?
I'll think on it some more. EB

I had my wife pick up a couple of cigar boxes in a larger city when she there. An actual smoke shop. It's been a few years but I think they were less than 10$ a pop.

Did some stuff to this build today.
I pretty much got the neck carving done. It is close enough for now. I'll do all the fines tuning once I glue it in.
Routed out the neck pocket. I didn't go as deep as I normally do. But it's deep enough for now. I am trying to decide on what kind of bridge I want to make for it. Has a few ideas, but nothing is talking to me! LOL!
Nice snug fit. Not to tight not to loose. Right where I like for a set neck. I don't know if you can see it or not. But I rounded the corners on the neck this time. I like the look a lot because of the roundness of the body.
This will be it for a day or two. I have something that came up that I have to go do. But when I get back to this. I'll be setting in the side dot markers on the neck. By that time I hope to have the bridge thing worked out. The items I bought to make the tail piece, didn't work out. It doesn't have the right look for the guitar. So now I am thinking of carving one out in wood. Kind Of like what you see on jazz guitars. That if I can find a piece of good wood to use. If not I may fall back on an LP bridge and tail piece.
Again this a fun build. Now that I have neck pocket routed and I can set the neck in the body, it has become even more fun. My wife loves it!
With the neck on it feels like it's as heave as a Tele give or take a pound. The neck feels a little chunky, but not over chunky. The problem in trying to get any thinner is the fret board is really thick on this neck. I took the back down as far as I could. If I go anymore, I am afraid of exposing the truss rod.
So until next time Boy's and Girl's... And remember what Texas Toast says... If you know so much about building guitars, build it yourself! That's what I do!! LOL! EB

Thanks Dane!
After doing our stuff that the wife and I had to do today, I decided to re do my little shop. Did some rearranging of one of the tables and moving the power tools around. Also while I was at it, I went through all of the power tools and made sure that things were staying tight. Screws, nuts. bolts and so on.
I hope now, I have things arranged, to where I can use the tools without moving them around. Guess I'll see how things work out once I get back into working on projects.

I'm getting the picture now that because of all this new tooling you have invested in and moving the deckchairs around, your shop is indoors but you just go outside to make some dust Eddie? I say that because I've read about your inclement weather recently, but I can't visualise you hauling machinery in and out on any regular basis. Whatever your set up, you're doing fine within your limits Sir.

OK here is an idea I had. I know someone else has probably used this. But don't spoil it for me. I think this is cool!
I save these beads or I lets off the end of strings. On of my granddaughters and I use to make jewelry. I had almost forgotten I had them.
S0, I came up with the idea to use them as side dot markers.
I need to order some more CA glue. So I can finish this up. But I found the perfect drill bit size. Sung enough that I had to hammer the dots in. So now all I have to do is fill in the center of the dot with glue. I might use epoxy. I have some of that.
Thinking of using silver ones on the other build. Also thinking on my next neck to use them for side and fret markers. I like the look! EB

Well, I was going to out to the little shop and do some things today. But, once again the weather has turned off cold. Yesterday we were in then 70s today we are back into the 40s. I do not like this time of year. LOL!
So, I am going to see what I can do indoors. Maybe I'll play guitar all day. HA!

Wow! I am just amazed how a cutting board can turn into a guitar but please share the final look images.

Wow! I am just amazed how a cutting board can turn into a guitar but please share the final look images. I do plan on showing it all the way through. I hope to be able to post a video of it once done. I also plan on showing my other build in a video as well.
I am at this time trying to set up a You Tube channel. Looking into how I want to go about making videos. That is kind of new to me. I have made some videos, but not fro You Tube.
Glad to have you on board. Hope you can learn some things. Please don't be afraid to ask questions. We are all here to help. EB

I ordered Some CA glue. It is supposed to be here by Sat. We will see. Until then I may do some pickup routing for this build. The pickups are also supposed to be here sat.
Still trying to figure out what I want to do for the bridge on this build. I have a few ideas. Going to test one of them out. See how it looks. I am also going to try and make the volume and tone knobs for this. Another we will see how that works out. I am also going to make the pickup surrounds. Think I got a handle on that. LOL!
