I have been seeing more and more of these kinds of builds. I like some of them, but I don't know if it's because I have seen so many of these kind of build or what. It is cool when you see one for the first time. But it's like all the cigar box guitar's I see being built these days. So many people are building them, and then you have the guys that are building guitars out of everything they can put and neck and string on. there is so much of it. What to you all think? Would you Rock something like this, build something like this. Do you think you could sell them for a good price? Yes I board so there you have it. LOL! EB

Sure is a unique look but nothing that makes me want make one for myself or spec. Also don't think I would like just the neck pickup sound. I suppose one could figure a way to get a bridge pup in there.

Neat bit of woodwork to execute the wiring, but the whole concept doesn't light a fire for me. I can see how other folks might get the idea though.
I am reminded of that Toilet Seat guitar from back in the 1970s? It may have been Dave Hill from the English Midlands based band known as "Slade" and I think it was made by John Birch? Could have been Ron Wood that owned it though? Yeah, Ronnie- that was it. There's a YouTube clip of him playing it with a toilet roll hanging off it or his clothes. I wonder where that guitar ended up?

Steve, I've got to look that up. This is the first I've heard of it.

He showed me pictures of the fist one and who he gave it to. He had another one hanging in his store there. He had guitars all over the place. A lot of custom orders. He build custom acoustic guitars as well as electric guitars. He was an interesting guy. I use to go in there 2 to 3 times a week just to bug him. I was trying to get him to let me work in his shop. But it never did happen. EB

Interesting guitar....just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should do something!
I’m guessing the guitar pictured above was part of an art exhibit or is a wall-hanger.
Kidding aside, I welcome new designs and processes.

Thanks Steve, the string of TP is a nice touch. It has a rubbery kind of tone. Did you notice in the blurbs during the video that Ronnie said it didn't work well and he never played again?

I have also seen where people fill in the void with colored epoxy. Those look pretty cool. There seems to be this big trend of making guitar like instruments out of everything and anything. I know it fun to do. But there seems to be a lot of it. Well, I guess I would rather have people being busy creating instruments than anything else!

I saw a YouTube clip where some guy had made an S-type from hundreds of coloured pencils arranged like soldiers and bonded together, sealed and clear lacquered. He made a mould and used release agent, then he routed the radiused edges and all the cut-outs. It was so colourful that it looked pretty neat. I think he did a Tele too.

The only thing I would have done on these, I would have use solid wood for the neck pocket. Don't know if I trust the pencils to stay put. But I like them, If I was still building guitars I would make me one. Maybe a neck though and use the pencils as the wings.

Here is another build for the guy that made the colored pencil guitars. I really like this one!

Yeah I like that too Eddie. That guy has some real left brain ideas. Resin guitars can be really heavy though. I had one once- an "S" type that someone had floated as a loss leader in a magazine article. I later saw it for sale in the small ads. I rescued it from the dumpster where it had been headed, put together an "S" type, broke it down and consigned it to my dumpster instead. It would have broken a bass player's spine! I wish I'd seen that video some time ago because I clear epoxied a compass into the end of a walking stick handle and I couldn't lose all the bubbles even using a heat gun.
