Hi JB! I have a Gibson Flying V studio, based on the 1967 V. I would be happy to help if you need some specifics

I like the string-thru V tailpiece...but I am a traditionalist!
Actually, anything looks good on a V.

Sure! I'll have to round up the digital camera, but I'll take some pick with a scale for you soon.

Forgot couple of questions. What should the bridge mount be in terms of measurement from the nut 25 1/2 or other ? What color do you guys think would be cool leaning toward purple or transparent blue? I think the neck back would be good satin lacquer? Please give me your feedback !!!!

1. The bridge is placed according the the scale of the neck. Measure from the bridge side of the nut to the center of the 12th fret wire. Take that distance and us it to measure from the 12th fret wire toward where the bridge should be placed. The distance (double the distance from the nut to the 12th fret) is the scale of the guitar and where you should place the middle Seles of the bridge.
2. I like Lake Placid blue...nice old Ford color. Or Plum Crazy, an old Mopar color from the late 60s/early 70s.

Hi John, I got the kit today the body wood looks good some flaws guess that makes it a solid color only. The neck looks real good. I measured the nut to 12 fret center 12 3/4 '' so it looks like 25 1/2 scale? The only problem is i have to drill the body for the bridge and tail mount inserts. I know the bridge is going to be 25.5 but where should the tail part be installed from the bridge ? Also do u kick the lower e side of the bridge in toward the neck if so how much ? What size drill for the inserts? please ck my pics Thanks Attachments:

The bridge needs to kick toward the rear of the guitar on the bass side. 3/16" is a good amount. The distance between the Tom and the stop bar looks good in your pic. 2.5 to 3" if memory serves. You just don't want it so close the strings hit the back edge of the Tom.
