Here is my finished Saga Kit: This kit was kind of an oddball. First of all, The body is really only made of 2 large sections of wood with 3 really small ones on the sides. Also, the neck pickup has a resistance of around 8, which is really
hot for a single coil. I'm not very good at judging sound, but it seems to have a pretty high output. I tried to strip the sealer off with Citrus-Strip but that didn't do anything at all, so I just sanded it off (which I do not recommend unless you have a boatload of patience). I decided to go with a dark red stain by minwax (I think the can said merlot or something like that). Due to the cold temperatures and lack of equipment i used brushing lacquer, applied with a rag to avoid brushstrokes (again, not the best idea). The finish is ok, but it kind of has a texture to it. The problem with brushing lacquer is that it dissolves the coat below it, so you can't sand thoroughly without making drips. The pickguard/control plate cover is made out of an old aluminum baking sheet gone over with an orbital sander to give a "brushed" look. A good project if you have an old one and want a unique pickguard for under $15 if you buy a new one. I think it sounds good, but then again, I don't have a very good amp.

I dig that alot, pretty good work. I think that if youre going for that antiqued look, not having a pristine surface finish can add a little more character.

dguitar1 you have done a fantastic job! You can be very proud of that Tele!
It is so cool to be playing somewhere and have someone take a real close look at my LP and say they don't regognize the headstock logo. And then ask where they can get one just like it. I send them here.
