I prefer to strip Saga necks. The "stuff" on them -- that is, the finish -- is not as tough as the one found on the bodies. Here is a rundown of how I accomplish the task...your mileage may vary! Try it at your own risk! www.guitarattack.com/mattocaster/sagakit.htmGood luck, John

On the Sagas which required stripping of the fingerboards because of the poor coloration of the "rosewood", I used the Poly after the dye to lock in the color. Trust me -- the ones I have refin'd wouldn't have looked good without the dye. You can't really tell the Poly is even on there, and the fingerboards I have around here still look good.
I've also used the poly on the backs of the necks, finishing them off with 0000 steelwool when they were dry. This made a very nice, smooth finish. However, on some of the Sagas I just sprayed them with lacquer.
A spray lacquer which I've been very impressed with is the MinWax Clear Aerosol Lacquer in the black can. Get it at Home Depot, and it sprays and works great. I used it on my black T-Style, and it is really holding up well.
Of course your mileage may vary!
Good luck, John
