8-)Hi Wonder if anyone can advise on this. I've just noticed on my JS1000 that there is a hairline crack on the side of the neck pocket. The finish is black pearl, the guitar hasn't been dropped so I find it odd. One of my friends says that it's not uncommon with Ibanez finishes that this happens. I have put some pressure on the neck to see if the crack moves or gets wider but it looks stable. I guess I'm just looking for some re-assurance it's not more sinister. Cheers Mr G

Double check that there is no movement in the neck. My guess without seeing the guitar is that the lacquer has cracked. It will naturally does this after a few years.
The wood and lacquer expand at different rates based on temperature and humidity, resulting in cracks in the finish.

8-)Hi. There is definitely no movement when the neck is flexed so thanks for those re-assuring words. Cheers Mr G
