I'm in the process of assembling strat copy. The neck pocket appears to be about 1/8" too shallow. No matter how I adjust the truss rod, the strings set on the frets. I compared the ratio to the squire bullet I have and it's an 1/8 too tall as well.
Should I just grind away with a sureform tool and a file?

The Strat neck pocket is normally 5/8" deep from the top of the guitar.
I had this problem with a Frankenstrat clone built from various parts. I built a jig and used a Dremel with a router bit to remove the wood from the neck pocket. Check out the article in the Builder's Gallery.
Keep in mind that the neck pocket must be precisely cut or your neck will never sit properly in the pocket. I'm not sure I would use files or surforms unless you really feel comfortable with them.
Good luck, John
