All -- I don't know if you've seen this from Gibson, but it is pretty wild. I may have posted on this a while back, but I think it is worth its own thread. Summary - Gibson reissue pickup set in their own little Lifton case. www.gibson.com/en-US/p/Player-Pack/1959-Humbucker-Collectors-Edition-Series-1-Exclusive/PU59DCNC2-SETDouble-white bobbins, Alinico 4 magnets, and a nice case! I think the case will help the sound! I have not heard these yet, but I hope to hear some soon. Have a good friend who works at the Gibson Garage; may hit him up on this. John

I know I've spent major sums on guitars, but there's sticker shock there that I really can't deal with. I guess in reality I'm a dinosaur? My ma told "if'n you can't say anything nice about xxxx, better to say nothing at all."
It's still tempting but oh-so out of reach.

A lot of folks might have missed the extra tone in the Lifton case. But seriously, I see so many unboxings where people go on and on about how nicely something is packaged. With a ribbon wrapped around it, or a velvet lined box. People we pay for that. Just give me a package that keeps it safe in shipping! I have seen these pups before. It may have been something you posted before John. Obviously never intended to be used just kept in the box until their value increases and can be re-sold at an even more ridiculous price.

I concur, Dane -- these were never actually meant to be installed in a guitar. Kind of like that fancy pistol with the engraving that you never take to the range.

I talked to one of my former colleagues who is always swapping pickups in his guitars, and he does of a lot of tech work on the road.
He said one of the guys he techs for tried these and thought they were pretty cool...and sounded like PAFs. He said he kept the little Lifton case in one of their road cases...just in case. lol
More to follow, John
