All -- It is hard to believe, but the first Van Halen album was released 30 years ago this week on February 10, 1978.
I propose a toast to the album that still inspires millions of guitarists.
Prost! John

It's kind of funny, but I've been listening to that album in my car a lot for the past year or so, ever since I got the urge to do my frankenstrat copy. I was only seven when it came out. Definitely a unique sound to that record, especially given the era in which it was made - an alternative to the AOR/arena rock of Boston and Tom Petty as well as (ugh!) disco.

It is funny that at that time in my life I never thought anything would be worse than disco. I was proven wrong, however, because I hadn't heard "rap" yet. Just my opinion, John
