Got to go out and spend some time outside today! Felt so good! The temps have been in the mid 80s the last two days. So, did some clean up in the shop and outside the shop.
It was good to be outside again. This has been a long hot summer.
Here is one of my pet peeves. When someone uses my tools, I wish they would turn things off and put things back where they found it. My landlady's son used my air compressor and turned on the big fan and left them on, and the air hose was all tangled up. What the heck???
They were here like a week ago. I have not been out in the shop since they were here. The least, someone could have done is put things back they way they found it. I don't mind if someone needs to use my tools. But they could put it back.
Well, it started to get hot, so I came in to cool down. Do some more tomorrow.

I now know what cooties are! Prior to this thread, I only knew cooties as being a type of Morse code key, AKA a "Sideswiper".
When we did our canyons fly-drive tour in 2009, we followed the advice never to leave suitcases on the floor. So far ad I know we didn't give any of the little critters a free passage back to Blighty, but I was unaware that the beds would ge infected too. Naive I guess. Flip I loved that holiday.

Yes it disrespectful and next time say no when he want's use your stuff. Grown man should know better.
Steve my wife is just referring to germs or bodily fluids as cooties. Not actual bedbugs. But that could be the case as well. When we were kids the girls always said that boys had cooties.

I'll catch up eventually Dane!
The wife of my boss at my last workplace used to work for a travel company, and she used to get lots of ultra cheap weekend deals at hotels on the premise of checking them out for suitability for their high profile customer base, and we used to go along for the ride. She told me that the first thing she did was what she called "Pillows and pubes" This implied that some hotel cleaners were not past putting on fresh pillow cases, stretching out the sheets and "brushing them off". It doesn't bear thinking about!

We had an air b&b in Arizona where all of the beds were obviously not changed. The owner immediately fired the cleaning lady and gave us a large refund. But we were stripping beds and washing sheets at 10PM for five rooms. This again reinforces my wife's hatred of cooties.

Going to turn this thread back around. If that's OK?
Well, selling off my guitars and amps has been something else. A lot of ups and downs. But all in all, things have been selling. I have made a lot of big decisions on a lot of things I own and the shop.
As you all know, we at some point will be moving. In doing so, we will no longer have the room for a lot of things. So we have to downsize a lot. This is not something we have not done before. Try going from a 2,000 square feet home into a 32-foot-long 5th wheel. Then live in it for over 2 1/2 years. Then there was the time we left AZ and moved in with our daughter into a small bedroom. Now we are facing the same thing. We will be living in the basement of our son's town home. It has no garage, no work shed. All of my shop tools will be going into storage until our son gets his new house built. That at some point will be another move for us.
I don't know why my wife and I always seem to have to move. But because of how the cost of living has gone up so much and our income has not kept up with it, I don't know what else to do. The cost of gas for the car, electric, and food is starting to cut into us in a huge way. We don't get to do a lot because we can't afford too.
Our son will be here on Friday. He is going to look things over and help us to decide on what to get rid of. The only thing we will be keeping is a few guitars, one guitar amp, our bed. And maybe one TV. Everything else has got to go.
So, there are some huge changes coming for my wife and I. I hope once this is all said and done, we can start to do some traveling. It would be nice to go see our USA again before something else happen health wise.
Heck, we may do some traveling on train. It's been a long time since we have done any of that! LOL!
Well, by Wednesday, the temps here are to hit 102. The humidity around 50 to 60% that is going to be over the top hot! It will be a low at night of around 75 to 78 degrees. It was not like this last year here. Oh well, like so many things, things are changing.

I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. Said it before, it's such a bummer after finally getting a space big enough to work in. Then having to give it up.

I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. Said it before, it's such a bummer after finally getting a space big enough to work in. Then having to give it up. Yep. But Dane, I have lost the fire or passion to keep on doing a lot of things. Maybe it's my age more than anything else. Was in the shop the other day. It just doesn't feel the same to me. Yes, it's so cool to have a big place as a shop goes. I wish I could have had this space some years ago. I wish my wife and I could have had a place we owned and not rent. So many things I wished would have happened for us. But it never worked out. Just about the time I feel we are putting down roots, we get transplanted somewhere else. I really thought this would be our last stop until our lives end. But no! Let move all over again!
We were going to move into one of them places for us older people. But who can afford to live there? $3,000 a month for most places, and that's for a studio. More for a one bed one bath and even a lot more for a 2 bed 2 bath place. Double or triple the $3,000 a month. So that is out. I don't see how people afford that.
I really feel at times I messed up somewhere in life. I'm too old and messed up to work. The wife too is too old to work. I don't live in a place, so I can buy and sell like I once did in AZ. My landlord here is up to something. She has been doing a lot of work to the property. We think she is getting it ready to sell. We looked for another place, but the rentals are twice what we are paying now. This is the bad thing when you rent. You never know when a landlord will sell or raise the rent on ya.
What a lot of people don't understand, us that live on SSI don't have any other income. Not all of us are wealthy. You all would be surprised on what we live on each month. I know people that have had to do the something we are getting ready to do. Move in with family. The bad thing about that is family does not always get a long.
I hope maybe once we can do some traveling we can maybe find somewhere to move to that in not so cold or hot. LOL! I need to get out of all the humidity.

I'm like you Eddie I should have done a lot more thinking about the retirement years 30 years ago.

I'm like you Eddie, I should have done a lot more thinking about the retirement years 30 years ago. The thing is I was thinking of it over 30 years ago. But not everything panned out. Is some real estate deals, I lost a lot of money. Then, when the real estate bubble popped, we lost our jobs our cars, our house. We lost it all. Had to claim bankruptcy. Then there was the Obama care days. We lost over $50,000 because of that plan! At a time I was not working, we were not retired. Obama care was nothing but a huge slap in the face to many Americans! So it was not because I was not trying to do better. The surrounding things were not letting us. I am a survivor, but I sure do get tired of things going wrong or down hill. Out of control. I really don't know what we could have done different. At one time in our lives, we made a lot of money! We were well off. Then things changed. We have never really recovered from the things that have happened.
So many things have happened to us over the years. But we have stayed together through it all for over 50 years. Not too many can say that. We will survive until the end of our time. No mater what comes our way.

Yeah I lost a lot because of the real estate crash and I had cancer and had to sell anyway. I may have mentioned before I'm retiring from the store sept. 14th. So living on a fixed income should interesting.
