OK, here I go... My Planer/joiner crapped out on me. I don't know why? The motor says it was made in 1995. Well, it's dead, and the motor is obsolete. So I cannot get one for it. I can get most everything else for it, just not the motor.
Now I am trying to figure out how to get me a new one. Or even if I need one. I used the heck out of the one I have. It will be missed, that's for sure.
I don't know if I want to spend the money on it. But at the same time, it would be nice to have, so I can finish up on some projects.
I don't know what to do. WEN has one for around $250 6" table model. On Amazon. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it is to me. Living on a fixed income is not what it’s cracked up to be.
Yesterday was a bad day all away around. I had yet another attack in my brain health, the planer going down, then I got a text that my younger brother is not doing well. He has a bad heart, and they can't do surgery on him because of other health issues.
So much for having fun and not getting stressed out. Any one want to buy some wood working tools?

Well, my wife and I worked it out. We did some figuring on some things, so that I could get me a new Joiner/planer. I should have it by Friday. I got a new WEN 8" joiner. It's a lot bigger than my old one. So it will not fit in my flip top table. It has what they call spindle cutting blades. 16 of them. I never owned one with this kind of cutter. But from all the reviews and videos I looked at before I decided on, it seems a good way to go. I plan on doing an unboxing of it once I get it. One reason I went ahead and got a new one was because of a lot of projects I have planned for the summer that will require me to do a lot of joinery.
It was hard on me to decided to get one or not. One reason is because of my health. That is the big one. But after talking it over with my wife, I told her that if things don't go well with me, I'll wind up giving all my wood working tools to my son. In the next year or two he will have a shop of his own and could use the tools that I have in his shop. He wants me to teach him how to make guitars. Maybe I can show him what I know and he can take it from there.
It will be hard to pay this off. But, at the same time, it will be nice to have a nice tool in the shop.

I have way more tools than I need and dwindling opportunities to use them. The world is divided between those who buy tools, and those who borrow them. You can guess who has the better bank balance ...
