I watched an hour log video that says that subscribers don't count anymore on YT. The video is leaning on making more YT shorts. But not giving up your YT long videos. It's the long videos that make you more money. The short are to help people find your Chanel.
By the end of the video, I was really confused. Because to monetize you still need the subs. This guy according to YT makes $94,000 a year off of his videos. WOW! Wait how? He to me is boring and really his content to me is not all that good, other than he talks a lot about YT.
I watch other guitar YT channels that their videos are not well done and are getting hits like crazy. I try hard to make videos as clear as I can. But some I see care nothing about how well it looks and are all over the place more than I. But yet they get a thousand of hits or more in an hour's time.
I am trying to figure out why is that? I know we all say it's the luck of the draw. But is it? Why does YT seem to favor some videos more than others?
I see every day some videos creators videos being shown to me that I don't even subscribe to. But yet every day there they are. I only watched their videos once or twice. Hum... But I look at their subs and some of them have more than a million of them. So if subs don't count, then what is?
IN the video I watched, he says It's how many times a video get's watched and how long people are watching.
I looked at my stats on my videos. I get on average about 100 hits in a day. But some of my videos don't get that in a year. So I don't see how that can be average.
Now, the age of people subscribing to my channel is over the age of 65. All my subs are male. I now have 205 subs.
Had the one channel now for about 2 years now. I think I have around 80 videos on there at the moment. I did delete a lot of them. Around 20 to 35 of them or more. They were ones that had been up for a long time, with only 24 hits. So why keep them up?
I don't know, I said I don't care about making money and all, but it would be nice if I could get more people interested in what I do.
I am doing what I can to improve the way I do videos. My biggest hit was the Finishing I did on the Eagle guitar. Over 17,000 hits since I posted it. But, I don't want to keep on doing videos on finishing.
I know we have talked about this stuff before. But I think I am going to do some experimenting of my own with YT. I do have 3 other channels. I'm thinking of posting other content on each of them and see what happens. One will be all stuff, really about nothing. Just a bunch of stuff that I can think of on the fly.
One of the other channels, I'll post some of the things I do in the shop that is not guitar related. Like making shelving, picture frames, end tables and so on. That is something I have not shown anywhere.
One other channel will be solely to promote other channels that I like and to share things like where and who I buy my guitars parts from.
I am still working on maybe doing something called “this old guitar”. Don't know if I'll do that on my one channel or start a whole new one on that. This will be all about me acquiring old guitars and fixing them to sell or give away. Or maybe even both. Like I said, still thinking on this one.
I am going to do one more build after the P90 guitar is done. I have them other P90s I got from John that I need to make a guitar for. But I might use them in a guitar that I want to rebuild. If I do that, then that may be the first one for “This old Guitar” Hum...
But I think some of my ideas may take off. I don't know. It would be interesting to see how things would change things up.
It may sound like a lot of work. But really, in the way I am thinking of doing the channels there won't be that much work in to them. I want to test out some things, just see if I can get more hits than I am now.
After all, I have come to the point in my life I cannot keep on making guitars. My life and well-being is and has changed a lot in the last few years, and not for the better. But I refuse to lay down a die all the way.
Right now, I am learning how to make good videos. How to put them together. So far I think I have come a long way in a short time.
Been watching a lot of how to videos, plus I get help from my granddaughter who has been on collage that is getting a degree in movie making. With her and her boyfriends help, I should be able to start making some pretty cool videos.
I find that the editing is getting more and more fun. You should see some of the things I have learned in the last two days. Stuff that is right inside of iMovie. WOW! I can hardly with until my next YT P90 video.
