This guy reminds me of Eeyore. You know the whiny donkey from Winnie the Pooh.
I imagine it might take a few years for these manufacturers to get back up to speed after the whole world shut down for a few years.

I don't know Dane, the way things are looking to me, shows like NAMM may be a thing of the past. Look at how many malls are closing up. I never thought a mall would ever close up. But I know of 3 that have in the last 2 to 3 years.
I remember a hug trade show that used to go on in Long Beach, CA, it took up 3 stories of the arena in Long Beach. The last one I went to took up only one floor. They no longer have that trade show today. But again, never thought at the time that it would never end.
The way that the online marking is going, and the younger people are, they would rather buy and look online for things rather than go somewhere.
Not to be like "Eeyore" But I think there is more to this than we think. I see it even in our churches.

Well only time will tell. I've never been to NAMM and at one point I thought it might be interesting to have a look around. Not so much anymore. They are mainly for the manufactures to present new items and ideas to dealers. Only one day when the "unwashed" can go in and check things out.
But you're right, with the internet companies can present everything they need to anyone that choses to look. And at a way lower or no monetary outlay at all. Still there is no hands on type of interaction which is what old guys like. Right? Kick the tires so to speak.

Still there is no hands on type of interaction which is what old guys like. Right? Kick the tires so to speak. Yep! I still like to see and hold items before I buy. I just bought a can of my Minwax tung oil finish off of,
Amazon. I thought I committed a sin... LOL! I feel odd still to this day buying anything online. With all the stuff I buy online, it still doesn't feel right.
I miss going to the store and buying stuff. Something about getting out and about. Right now, I am looking to buy parts for my gas weed eater. You can't find the parts in a store, somehow you are forced to go online and hope they send you the right parts. I say hope because I have ordered things parts wise that were not what I ordered. Then just try to get your money back or get them to exchange it for the right part. Sometimes it better to reorder the part and take a loss on the other.
At least in the “olden days” we could take a part with us and make sure we were getting just what we needed.
Easy to buy online, but everything else is so hard to do.
There are 2 guitars parts sellers I will never buy from again. They are bad business dealers. One of them is a big name online, the other one is that eBay seller I had problems with. Both of these places should not be doing business at all! They will not stand behind what they sell. They refuse to make things right.
The one... well... you all know what he has done in trying to slam my name all over the place by calling me all kinds of nasty names.
Well anyway. I guess some are fighting a fight that we will have to someday cry uncle too.

The demise of the NAMM Show has been an "end is near" story for a long time. Couple that with "hey, look at me" on YouTube and the other socials, an upbeat review just doesn't get the clicks. I went to my first NAMM in New Orleans in 1985 (young guy), and I've been to a lot of them over the years. They have changed with the proliferation of the internet, and I think they will continue to change and evolve as music and music education change. I think my favorite show was either the 1987 NAMM in Chicago or the 2002 Nashville show - here is the link to the latter: guitarattack.com/shows/namm02/namm1.htmWhile we can find a Podcast or two out there that will comment on everything, I'm going to spend more time on the most important thing, in my opinion: Encouraging young people to play guitar. I'm considering opening a "School of Rock". John

John, things are sure changing. As the young lings grow older and technology grows as well, in a few more years this old world as we know it today will become a place of huge changes.
I have been watching the development of the AI Robots. They are growing fast and will change things for us humans in huge ways. They are getting scary life like. At some point, I would not be surprised that they will become common in the house, much like computers or even cell phones are today.
When I owed a print shop, I had everything that was top of the line technology. But after 5 years of opening that shop it got harder and harder to compete with or stay on top of all the latest greatest thing coming out. Now there is hardly anything being printed in the way I used to print. 95 to 98% of what is called printing is not printing at all. It is now digital. Digital is not printing, it is imaging. Now, a lot of people can do “printing” in their own home for most of their needs. Where it used to take a print shop to get things done.
When I got into printing in 1970. It was rated as one of the top 5 businesses to get into. Back in them days, there was a print shop on almost on every corner in CA. Now you would be lucky to find one in a whole city.
Sad to see some things go. But like it or not, change will always be top dog. Just like me not liking the tech for the stage these days. Clean stages and so on. I am still a die hard fan of the stage monitors and all the problems it has. LOL! Here is one for ya! How about cars with no steering wheel? Those will be out in the next few years.
So a lot of things are changing. The last surgery I had was done by robotics. In some years from now, I bet that there will be a time that we, as humans, we won't need a human doctor.
But in it all, I hope that we will always need someone to play guitar and other instruments. It would a shame if AI did everything for us.
It is a great idea to start a school of Rock! We need more things like that. I see a trend right now with kids learning guitar and other instruments. Seems like there are a lot of teens that are into music. That is a good thing. I don't think that music will ever become a thing of the past. To me, there is a connection in music that most humans need in our lives.
This world would not be a place I would want to be in without music.
