This monster was in a dark corner of our rehearsal studio. I decided to take it back to the shop to see if functioned.
Turns out the amp is rated at 160W RMS which explains why it is so HEAVY for a SS amp.
Someone had hacked into the speaker wires to add a 6 foot external speaker plug leaving exposed wires in their wake.
I replaced the speaker wires (14ga), cleaned the pots, replaced the AC plug and finished with some cosmetic cleanup. The clean channel is great, the mechanical reverb sublime. The lead channel is not useful in a musical sense (i.e., sounds cheesy).
FWIW, that is not the original speaker but the Black Widow is a great speaker and can handle the power.
I'm going to try and use this as a pedal platform as I move away from my modeling amps.

LOL! I had a couple of these. They do sound pretty good! You are right, the over drive is not good. But everything else is good to go!
I got the ones I had through some trading. They have long been traded off. I also had one of the tube amps, from the same year as the two I had, like yours. Cool old amps. Heave but cool! LOL!
Good to see you were able to get it back up and going again! EB

Very nice save. Good for you getting it running again. The weight of this beast would make totally unusable for me. But if you can heave it around have at it.
