Got my new M2 Mac mini today. It's taken me all after noon to get this up and going. Now it's fine-tuning everything. Had some problems in getting Fire Fox on it, but I figured it out. LOL! Had a few other hiccups. But got them figured out as well. The Mac is a little different from a PC, but I am catching on. It is a lot faster than my Laptops. I can also watch videos in 4k. I have it hooked into my 4K TV 55 inch. WOW! I can see! LOL! But so far so good! At this moment in time, everything is running smooth. I have done a lot of tweaking to it already. Had to make things look right on the big screen. But that was easy to do. Now I need to figure out how I can make a video and get it from my phone to the Mac, so I can take it into iMovie. I hope that won't be too hard. But I think I may have that figured out, I'll have to make a video and see if my idea works.
There will be more to come on this adventure, you can count on it.

Eddie air drop is the fastest way to transfer files from your phone to the Mac. You click the file you want, or movie, on your phone. Then click the the square with the up arrow. It will direct you from there.
I use the Safari browser on my MacBook just to keep the browser clutter to a minimum. But did bring in chrome for uploading vids to YT. They don't mesh with Safari.

Dane! Thanks for the help! It works out great!
I have had some problems today with the Mac wanting to read the external hard drives. I think I got that up and going good now.
Also, am I having to learn iMovie all over again. It's not the same as it is on the phone. I like the one on the phone better. It's a lot easier to use. Plus the one on the computer, I have to download music for it. It doesn't have a selection like it does on the phone iMovie app.
But I did go through most of the music on YouTube that is mad for YouTube. I'll see how free it is. LOL!
Going from the PC to a Mac has had its learning curve. But I think I'm getting the hang of it. HA!

Glad it's working out well. The Mac thing is pretty new to me. With the way things are these days for me, that it will take some time for me to learn some stuff with a Mac. But this is a part of doing this. To keep me learning new things and to keep my mind active.
Now that I have some of the MAC computer stuff figured out, now it's onto learning the iMovie. I know once I get a few of the commands of the keyboard figured out, it will become easier to use. Been watching videos on how to use iMovie, but is still a little confusing. But I am a hands-on kind of guy. So, I have been doing some test videos in trying to learn how to do some things. It's been fun and frustrating at the same time.
Over time, I'll get there. I'll do something simple and go from there. Each time I make a video I'll learn something new to try and keep on building from there.
What is real nice, I bought a new 4k TV 55". I have my Mini hooked up to it. WOW! Is it nice! I can sit in my recliner and work away. My TV is at eye level and easy is to see. The 4k makes it real nice for all my needs. It is also nice to hear the sound come through my sound bar. I use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
The keyboard is for a Mac. The mouse is not, but is working fine. I may get a new mouse for it, because the one I have is old, and the track wheel is a little slow and jerky.
All in all, I am like the new Mac. Thanks again for the help on getting things from my phone to the Mac. One of the things I was hoping for was to be able to use my phone and the Mac together. The PC was always a hit-and-miss kind of thing. One time I could get the two to read each other, then the next time it would not. But that is PC. All the years I used a PC and all the "things don't work right" was always a huge thing for me.
Me and MS in the early days were always on the phone with them asking or telling them, "why is it things like Linux can get things to work in MS, but MS can't seem to get their stuff to work?"
Today, MS still has a lot of issues, but yet most things are geared to use MS stuff. But Mac, and Linux, has come a long way since the early days of computers.
I was telling my wife that Mac to me is a cross between an MS and Linux with a little of their own thing in it. But it all seems to working fine.

For sure Eddie. Every time I ran across something that didn't make sense to me I just YT-ed it and found out what was going on. Then of course the more you do it the more automatic it becomes.

For sure Eddie. Every time I ran across something that didn't make sense to me I just YT-ed it and found out what was going on. Then of course the more you do it the more automatic it becomes. Been looking at a lot of videos to learn some things about iMovie. Looks like it does a lot more than I'll ever use. Just looked at a video showing how to use green screen. Looks like a lot of fun!
Well, I think I did the right thing in getting the Mac. So much better than MS Windows. This computer is by far the fastest computer I have ever had. I can watch YT videos in 4g with no lag at all! My PC would never do that. As of this moment, I have turned off my laptop computers, I may not ever turn them back on. Everything I had on them is not on my external hard drives.
I have 3 external drives. I will never fill them all up.
My 4g TV is working awesome with the Mini M2 Mac. NO issues at all. Well, I know again, this post is not about guitars. But I think we all need to look at the hard facts. This is the way... LOL! Without a way to make videos and post them now in days, we will get lost in a black hole of life. That may not be a bad thing. HA!
Videos and guitars in my life go hand in hand now. Can't do one without the other. Again, I am not looking to make money on YT. Too much work for that. I find making videos for making guitars is an extension of my hobby. So I might as well try and make them better as I go long. EB

I also prefer my MacBook Pro over any other computers I've had. They do have their own issues but it in the hook up end of things. Seems like Apple likes to change their USB and ear bud sizes for no good reason other than to up sell add ons.

Every time my path has crossed a Mac I've been irritated by it and it would be inappropriate for the thread to get into listing issues, but of course that has more to do with a degree of familiarity with Bill's Bilge and an expectation that maybe with a tail wind a Mac might just be better. I admit my Mac encounters have been quite rare, but I've experienced the most stupid gotchas trying to do the most basic things with a Mac such as reading an SD card from a camera on one occasion. I mean flip! A memory card in the built in slot on a Mac???
These days I just use my tablet or my 'phone, and we only watch movies on the PC. Time was when you could nip down to a computer show and buy a replacement for a broken optical drive for a PC for £15 or so, yet the same thing with a firmware that an Apple Mackintosh would deign to speak to was nearer £200 from a retail store. Then Apple went i386 architecture and appropriated a Linux kernel rather than continue to hurl resources at maintaining and developing their own, so that problem with hardware replacement price kind of went away (except with a MacBook of course!) Folks coming from Windoze say that there is often a problem with availability of programs for Linux, but 't'was ever thus for Apple / Mac compared to M$, yet the stark difference is in the initial and ongoing fiscal investment. If I wasn't running the Redmond free (sic) W10 "Service", I'd never buy into it (the last one I paid for was a retail boxed XP Pro) but I sure wouldn't hemorrhage any folding green beer tokens into Jobs's baby either. With my lack of the Linux skills required to run Slackware, I guess it would be Linux Mint for me.

Well, I really like my new Mac. It runs like a computer should. Nice and smooth. The iMovie is taking somewhat of a learning curve, but so far has been fun to use on the Mac and not on my phone. Here is my first video using my Mac.

Pretty nice Eddie. That monitor is crazy big. It’s not only a monitor, but my TV as well. LOL! I just did another video (short) I may post later on. This is getting to be so much fun! EB

Massive monitor! Cool screensaver too. The actual computer really reminds me of my tiny little Lenovo M92P which we use for watching movies- kind of like a standalone thin client even if that sounds oxymoronic. I will say that any new computer will schlepp along like greased lightning compared with well used hardware, so the taste of the pudding is time regulated. That said, I'm guessing that a Mac will continue to perform long after a M$ computer has ground to halt. Nice catch Eddie.
