Hi all, Hoping one of you peoples know a thing or two about the Steinberger Spirit headless bass.
#1, Is the neck wrapped in carbon fiber?
#2, What kind of glue is under the fretboard?
That's the important stuff. If it's CF I'm not messing with it. Bad enough to get a clean split with normal finish. Then there's the added "what to do" when going fretless but the string retainer is 3/8" from the existing first fret.

Straight off the bat, I know nothing about these instruments Dane. OTOH, I do know that you'll do whatever is the "right' thing.

I thought I just saw a video on YT on this kind of neck. Hum... They are a strange thing, as I remember. I have only seen one and that was a guy playing in it worship team I was on.
That's all I know of them. LOL! When in doubt, back out! LOL! EB

Which version do you have? Some of them are wood while the others are complete,y composite.
Can you post a photo?
Thanks John

They look like the composite Steinbergers but they are made of wood, have a thick poly finish, and, as I recall, are not wrapped in carbon fiber like a Parker Fly. I believe the glue on those is standard wood glue. We did some work on a fingerboard and we were able to lift it with a heated spatula. That string retainer needs some epoxy! They can be different, but that is what I remember. These were made by Gibson in the 90s in the Korea factory. Our Orkin Guy used to work in Nashville doing setups, and also worked on the Ephiphone line...but that is another story. John
