Thinking of starting a new YouTube page called "This old guitar" On it, I will take old guitars and give them new life. I have a few here with me that I could do that with. I can also look for deals on old guitars that need new life brought back into them.
What do you all think?

You could do that, sounds like a fun topic. Or you could make that a weekly or monthly segment on your existing channel.

It sure sounds like a fun thing to do, but you'd then have to maintain the momentum of two channels, and also bank on views and a thriving response stream which as we know is not a given. I would say go for one or the other in the interests of not over stretching yourself Eddie, and integrate as Dane has indicated.

I wasn't sure if I should make it a topic on my YouTube channel or start another one. I wish now with me doing that glitter guitar I would have done that with it. But I have a couple of other ones I could start that with.
I will do something in the near future. I have a few ideas for it running through me.
Well, I am now over 100 subs on my channel. Don't know what else to do to get more people interested in my videos. Told my wife, I guess I could put on a sexy dress and see what that would do... LOL! Seems women that put on a sexy dress and play a guitar can get a million subs and hits, but a plain old guy can hardly get anything. HA! That's what he said! LOL! EB

When I worked in Renton, WA, we went to a roadhouse after work every day. It was owned by an ex-pat Scot called Billy and the bar's name was eponymous. He regularly lamented over how to drive up the footfall, and my friend Patrick was always telling him to take a cue from Hooters. Having a stiff upper British lip, he declined, but by the time of my third trip Billy's Bar was history. A real shame IMHO, but you know Patrick was right- you have to appeal to the lowest common denominator, and Hooters is still going strong I imagine?

It's not just sex appeal that draws views. Although it sure does draw clicks. I've said the same thing in my own videos. But I've also said that good video editing, clear transfer of ideas, camera angles. It's all sorts of things. Then there's the behind the YT scene of other social media that needs to be minded.
I'm not camera/ editing wiz or a comic unless you like it dry. I don't have the time or desire to up my YT game to grow the channel. Though, I do have a couple of ideas for videos that are a bit different. But more to screw with people than anything else. Anyway the YouTube watchers, mostly it seems, are more interested in being entertained than educated. Not mutually exclusive of course. I talk less now than I once did and try to keep the videos shorter. My schedule just changed, gotta go.

If I may be allowed, Dane's videos are definitely slicker than when I first started following, but that's no surprise- we all live and learn, and I find I'm restricted to anecdotal missives because he's so on the ball. Eddie's editing in the intro and outro has leaped tall buildings with a single bound recently. Also, I have really taken to Eddie's perhaps somewhat enforced relaxed sitting down presentation rather than roaming around the shop focussed on the floor. I suppose it's sufficient to note that I enjoy watching both of you guys, but it makes me circumspect as to whom I subscribe because I cannot do justice to the efforts of all the YouTube creators to whom I am subscribed.

Thanks, Steve, for the comps!
I do try and make my videos lay back. So many videos I see be with car or guitars have people yelling or doing crazy stuff. They do seem to have the most hits and views. Most of them are fun and funny to watch for a short time. But it does get old. There is one top guitar posting person that takes so long to get to the point of the video. By the time he gets to the point, I pretty much have lost interest. I will most of the time advance the video to where he starts to talk about the guitar that he is working on. Then it's only about 5 to 10 min. long. That's out of an hour and half video.
I keep track of what my videos are doing. Seems the ones that get the most hits are about 20 to 30 min. long. If it goes shorter, the videos don't seem to get as many hits. I also think that YouTube does not post some of my videos as much as some of my longer videos. The videos of mine I see (once in a while) being posted over and over are the ones over 20nin. Long.
My problem in going over 20 min. It takes about 3 1/2 hr to upload. That is a long time. I have real slow internet source I am using. I get it for free do to our land, lord pays for it. I looked into getting a faster internet, but they want like 150 to almost 200 dollars a month. I cannot afford that. So, in saying that, I am forced to keep my videos short. But in doing so I don't get as many hits. So what does one do?
I can't monetize until I have 1,000 subs and 7,000 hits a day. So that may never happen. I thought if I could do that, I could afford to get the faster internet. One of my videos has 8.2k views in 7 months. That's in 7 months. At that rate, I'll never make any money on YT. But I never started out wanting to make money on my videos.
So, I guess, I'll keep doing what I do. I so enjoy doing the videos. I am trying to learn as I go.
If it wasn't for the free program that is on my phone, these videos would not be the same. The program on my computer cannot even come close to what I can do on my phone and in less time. I did look into the iMac laptop and the video software for it and the go pro cams. But that was way more money than I want to spend. So the iPhone was a lot cheaper. I still think that the videos are coming out clear. I know I like to ramble on in them. But that is who I am. I have to be me. That is something I learned a long time ago.
So, I'll keep on doing what I do the way I do it for now. Someday I won't be able to. If this other doctor I am going to next week can't help me, then it only a mater of time before I can't do the videos or build guitars along with anything else. The thing that happens in the brain most times at night is starting to happen during the day. Just had a hit this morning. Not fun guys... I don't know from one moment to another what I will be like. I guess for me, when I have my good times, I want to get all I can into my videos. Because I don't know when I will take a hit. This why I try a share some of what I go through in my videos. For one, to raise awareness of things like Alzheimer's. I want people to see how this stuff affects me. I don't want people to feel sorry for me. That is not my intent.
So for now I will keep having fun with what I do. I will do it for as long as I can. I hope I can last another 10 years. But I never know what will happen at the moment. Be at peace! EB
