Funny how we get off track on these posts. Seem we are getting bored with my builds? Hum... It will all come to an end soon. Once this build, the glitter guitar and the P90 guitars all get done, there will be no more for a long time. The neck through is almost done. Once the Glitter guitar is almost done with the finish going on, it will be done in a day's time. Then it will be the P90 turn. After that, it will be a long time before I make any more guitars.
After the builds... I'll be making some sound videos again. But I will not be posting them on here. So, if anyone would like to see them, they will have to go to my YT channel "Eagle Blues Custom guitars."
Well, anyway, I am not in a good mood today. Had another bad night. I may go out to the shop and sit there and think some things over. (again)

Made some huge decisions... After this build and the other 2 builds are done. I will not be making any more videos of my builds. The P90 build will be the last build video I do.
Like I said before, I will make a few sound videos of some of the guitars I have made or have rebuilt. I will take all the guitars I made in the last year and make one video of all of them together. That will be a total of 5 guitars I made in a year's time. Not all of them have videos of me making them, and 3 of 4 of them have no sound videos as of yet because they are not done yet.
I have a lot going on with my health, and it looks like that is going to be a big issue from here on out. Plus, I have like over 60 videos up on YT and very little comments or thumbs up. Little disappointing. So I give up, not going to keep on boring people with me complaining about my heath and my rambling on in the videos.
I had one guy email me and said he won't watch any videos that have intros. He likes videos that have no intros. He feels like I am wasting his and others time when they have to watch an opening in a video. LOL! I told him then don't watch any of my videos.
Well, anyway, Once again I am going to stop something that started out to be fun. If they do surgery to me ( I think that will be the way they will want me to go) Then I will be down for a real log time. Took me 8 weeks of healing the last time I had surgery done on my neck. Then months of therapy. Not a fun thing to do.
So my guitar building will be pretty much done for most of next year. It will also be hard for me to play guitar during that time. Then there is a big risk that the surgery can make things worse. (going off of what I was told last time I had surgery.)
Starting today. I am going to hit on this neck though and get it done. I will be concentrating on it. I won't do a sound video on it until sometime later on. I don't know when that will happen.

I know we've said this before Eddie. You gotta do you. Everybody likes different stuff. Some people like action movies. Others sad medical stories. Still others like documentaries. That's why there are always good and bad reviews of "real" movies. Then you just get people with no talent for anything at all flaming the folks that tried to actually do something. Don't waist your time taking them to heart.
Best of success With you medical things Eddie. I'll be thinking about and praying for you.

All I can do is sympathise with you Eddie. My own YT channel has but one clip and I've made it non public access simply because I have no desire to suffer the slings and arrows of potential low lifes hiding behind a console.
Dane's right- life's a mixed bag of all comers, and if anyone puts their head above the parapet it is inevitable they'll catch stray bullets or apathy.
I've noticed that your recent projects have definitely upped the ante and development is entirely to be expected. Keep on doing what you can as long as you choose because in some ways selfishly we benefit.

Eddie/All - I sympathize with the apparent lack of viewers. I've spent years recording my original music, spent the money to post it online, and have made barely a ripple.
Once in a while I'll get a note from somebody I know saying the music is killer, but it rarely gets more than a few listens on Spotify.
While I lament my apparent lack of appeal, I also take comfort in knowing that I am still able to produce music I enjoy making and can even stand to listen to it. I realized long ago that I wasn't going to be a rock star, but I enjoyed the process of making and recording music.
Somebody is going to like your videos and will likely never tell you about it. Kind of like a Yelp review - the negative ones always get the attention.
I recommend you keep making videos and you may be surprised what happens. It's like the old parable about the great man planting a tree knowing he will never enjoy the shade.
I'll still be here.

It's all governed by that elusive rascally nymph Lady Luck. We know that it could happen at anytime and has little to do with effort or expenditure, but given the over subscribed whelter of frankly lesser wannabees, and what increasingly seems to pass for musak nowadays, it's odds-on to fall on thorny ground.
John, the engineered quality of your recordings and indeed your playing standard for me are able to withstand comparison with (eg) Joe Satch- no BS, but unless something tips the balance of fate, stuff happens. You've hit the nail on the head; you do what pleases yourself and no one can deny you that. I followed a path of putting someone else before dreams and I really don't regret that, but I often see others and realise that at this stage anyway that ship's sailed. Like you I just play to please myself (and "management") and fall back on counting blessings.

I was thinking YT but home made and recorded music runs the same gambit for sure. I set up and ran sound for some truly gifted musicians in my 20 years at the coffeehouse. It was usually the lesser mortals that were really looking for the record deal. And they knew for sure they were ready. I don't think it happens by luck very much. Most people I've heard about really had to hustle to get noticed. Then there is nepotism and some make just through the family business.
Anyway look up and watch one, just one video by someone called PewDiePie. That should tell you everything you need to know about YT and some of the watchers of YT.

Big mistake Dane! Now the Tube is going to make suggestions based upon viewing that utter garbage. Oh well, time is the greatest healer I believe? I was thinking that so many folks put their heart and soul into it, yet those that get the breaks still outnumber them. The reason I guess is that the lightweights outnumber the cream by many orders of magnitude, so however laudable the good stuff gets mired in a grand morass. Moreover, those with the attention span of a fruitfly similarly outnumber the enquiring selective types. It's a double plus slam dunk triple whammy. Hard work for sure but I contend that grinding away has a low payback.

Right, back on track; the shine you get with that Tung Oil finish- wow! I have a selection of standard long series drills but for the really long ones, we used to weld them onto steel rod. We'd get hold of a disused "Vee" bar from the press and clamp both drill and rod (pre chamfered slightly for weld penetration) and weld a bit, grind off, turn and weld some more and so on. I still have a few of them here. Very useful. I'm sure we could have bought them but hey it was an engineering shop! Those pickup surrounds look really slick too, did you make them as well? I seem to recall that you have done that in the past. Lovely work Eddie.

Yep, back in the day of my car building, I used to do the same with drill bits to make them longer. I used to make all kinds of tools for working on cars. But I also had anything and every thing to do that with. If you could not find a tool to do something with in my car shop, you didn't belong in my shop.
So my car building crossed over into my guitar making. But some things like long drill bits I have to buy. I, no longer, have a welder or lathe to work with. LOL!
But you are right, I have been known to make the pickup rings. One of my favorite things to do.
But today in the shop, I am going to try and finish the neck through. I got side tracked yesterday by the wife and had spent the day, yesterday, helping her in the house. Hey, she comes first. She is always there to help me out no mater what. So I can forget my guitars stuff any time for her.

The drill bit trick! Yes I've also been there. I no longer have access to a welder or a shop environment that will not burst into flames when welding. I now buy them as well. I had a guy in the store yesterday looking for a 5' flexible drill bit. Apparently it's an electrician thing these days. I had no idea. I was so ashamed. To use a well worn phrase Eddie, happy wife, happy life. She is obviously a very sweet lady.

Wandering a bit off topic again- indulge me Eddie, we had a couple of drill bits that were both about 3 feet long. Visualise that! They were each a part of tools made to drill along through 3/8" and 0.80" Nomex sandwich boards respectively. That's like two glass fibre skins each about 15 thou' thick and the honeycomb ribbon core in the middle. The tool mated up with the edge of the panel and exhibiting great care and observation the drill bit went through two carefully aligned hardened drill bushes in the tool. This allowed us to run a turn shaft that rotated a mid-latch / secondary latch. The idea was that when one meal container is removed, the rear one was still restrained for safety in the aircraft but it was operable from outside of the compartment. The same applied with full cart apertures that were akso designed to stow two half carts. Occasionally and inevitably the drill would wander and break out through the glass fibre skin. Then we had to go to the Stress Department for a repair scheme which was generally an aluminium doubler plate located with 2013 Araldite and scrim cloth. We were forbidden to patch up and hide things surreptitiously. Dane will remember me banging on about scrim cloth for bonding together mated surfaces. ;<D
Useless factoid: back in the day they had this stupid turn button back plate designed to prevent latch rotation in the aluminium edge capping extrusions. They had tiny pins just like some machine heads. I discovered that if I broke off the rosette welded pin, the latch back plate made a perfect drilling template for Sperzel tuners!

Funny how we can find things that will work for other things I have done that for a long time now. That’s what makes building things like guitars fun. I like to not only make guitars but half the fun is making or coming up with tools and jigs that I make. I can’t always afford to buy ready made things. EB
