It may look alright once all the stuff goes on it. The darker color takes away from the other colors in the picture/fabric. I know it's hard to cover that fabric edge. May have looked better without the fade.
But it did lose something. It still looks cool. But just don't have the MOJO it had like before. The red in the fabric looks so muted to me. No POP!
Sorry Dane, maybe it looks better in real time.
EB
Like I said to Steve, I don't disagree. I had to go dark on the edge because of some defects in the wood. But after the sand out and polish it has grown on me a lot.

The lighting in the picture may not be the best. I know have run into that. It's hard enough making guitars, and many think we need to know how to take pictures as well. LOL! Had some got on to me about that some time ago. Even making videos.

Yep, it is a dark picture. Lighting is a important for sure. It's like I said about pickup winding. "how many things do we need to be really good at?" Like you eluded to guitar making is involved enough. Wood working, metal working, paint finishing and wiring and set up skills.

I have always thought that once it has gone together, the eye roves over the hardware, decal(s) and everything that goes together to make the whole greater than the sum of the parts. You'll see. It will look great when we're not focused mainly on the finish and can appreciate the creation as a whole.

And a little more nut shapping will make it complete. I'll try to get a decent picture up here.

She's a beauty Dane.
It confirms for me what I said that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
