Hi all, let's start a new thread all ready in progress. I do have some video of the early parts. But here's two pics of where it is right now. I found this fabric at Wally World and had to do something with it. Now, I'm thinking set neck and two hummers with fixed bridge. OK now does that mean it can't be a super Strat without a trem? Also haven't 100% decided on an edge/fad color. Black would work but I think a red like the car would be cool. My wife, Johnnie, thinks tan like the wood that's there already. If the wood had not chipped in routing I might have left it as is.

OK, what are you using for clear on it? I am to the point of pealing off the fabric on my guitar. I think I'll be ahead of the game if I did.
I like both ideas on the colors you and your wife has. For me, I like the red. But, what if you did both colors?

Eddie said "what if you use both colors" I'm going with the KISS method on that one. I used the easy sanding sealer by Simtec. The color will be trans tint mixed in a blender coat by Tamco auto paint. the clear will be 4:1 2K auto clear also by Tamco. Here is another fabric top doing for a client. Already has color and clear.

I don't have a big enough air compressor or a spray gun to pull off that kind of clear coat. Guess I'll be going back to the way I was going to do mine the first time. Not going to use epoxy again. Too messy, too hard to work with for me.

Eddie I just watched Ken Parker's videos on finishing. He has a two step process for clear on natural finish. The videos are part of his ARCHTOPPERY series. He's the guy that produced the Parker Fly electric guitar.

Turns out I lost the video from gluing the fabric to the tops and everything preceding these pics. I will try to get good pics of any more progress on this Strat.

Here are the two final shots of the Gem body. I'm shipping it back to NH today. I haven't forgotten this is the sorta super Strat thread. No movement on that yet. Man, they look totally flat in the pics. I turned the light out because it was reflecting the over head chandelier so much it looked like a defect in the paint. These pics are awful!

Here are a few neck pocket route pics. This just happens to be a full Strat template for neck and all cavities. But notice the long front end approach that supports the router.

Looks good! That is something I started doing when routing for a neck pocket. Making a longer (wing) for the router to ride on.
Good stuff! EB

Here are where the pickup routes will be. I'm not routing them until I get the bridge to be very sure where I want them. I'm convinced that there is no sound difference between a top load hardtail and a string through hardtail bride. Although I know common lore would say the string through sounds better. I don't think I've ever heard a shoot out between the two types of bridges. Even if there is a shoot out between the two types of bridges how do you quantify that. Like I said I'm not convinced so convince me. Tell me why I'm all wrong.

I have done so many top loads and string through guitars. I hear no difference in them at all. In fact, the sustain is the same. The Sting through looks better to me.
This is one of them other things that people get bent out of shape on. If there are any sound/tone difference, I sure can't hear it. But I know someone out there will say they can. Wish there was a way to do a blind test on people that say they can hear a difference. LOL! EB
