Well as you know we are moving again. Lots to do. We are about half way in packing up the condo. We started on the master bedroom today. My guitar room and the woman cave is packed. We did the dining room yesterday.
We still need to get the kitchen packed and my little shop. the shop will take me 2 days to get it ready for the move.
I will say one thing it is not cheap to make a move. I hired 2 guys to load the truck for us. I can't do that part anymore.
Then all of the things you need for a move. Not cheap... I cannot believe what they want for boxes! WOW! We did get some free boxes, but we still needed some special boxes that we could not get for free.
Well, anyway... Looks like we might get to move in sooner than we were planing on. that would be cool!
Now if my body would get in gear and stop hurting I would be happier. LOL! Work 30 minuets rest an hour. I do that form morning until about 2 PM. Then I am a lost cause. I'll be glad to get it all packed up and ready to go. So we can rest and get ready for move day.

Moving is indeed a huge pain. I've threatened to leave it all and try new stuff at the other end.

Moving is indeed a huge pain. I've threatened to leave it all and try new stuff at the other end. LOL! I said that today!
One has to start wondering if the stuff we have is worth paying for all over again when moving. I really think for the most part it would be cheaper to buy new stuff than to move it. I was quoited $3,000.00 for them to load and unload at the other end. they charge by the pound. We are moving 125 miles from where we are at. The only thing I own that is worth over that is my 71 LP. And that would go with me. For $3,000.00 I can buy a lot of new stuff! LOL! The thing is, They don't have to pack anything. It will all be packed up.
Here is one for ya... Did you know that some moving company's will charge you for them to use their tools to take things apart? Up to $80.00 and if that's not enough they charge $70'00 for shrink wrap per role. They also will charge you for the Dolly, the use of their rope. The list goes on. Then if they brake anything they will determinant the value of and will pay up to 40% of it's worth. Been there done that. What a rip off! Never pay a moving company for extra insurance on your stuff. They will not give you enough to buy the item again. They figure the worth on what you can get at a yard sale, then give you 40% of that. WOW!
When we moved for CA to AZ the movers wound up braking over a 12 hundred dollars worth of stuff. We paid for the extra insurance. We got $125.00 to help replace our now broken stuff. The insurance cost us more than that.
So, we will take out chances. We will be renting a truck and we already haired two guys to load it for us. With the truck rental and the two guys we will be well under a thousand dollars. No one will give us old people a brake these days. I have to try and save money where I can. Heck I did get some discount on the new iPhone because I am a senor. LOL!

During most of my professional career we moved every two to three years. I wouldn't say we got used to it, but we definitely got better at it over time.
I didn't let the movers move my guitars. I would pack up the ones I didn't already have in storage and FedEx them to my in-laws for safekeeping. It was kind of expensive, but it saved me a lot of sleepless nights!
Best of luck on the move.

John I always take my guitars with me that are in cases. The other ones I wrap up in blankets and they go into a clothing box. The ones that have that bard across the top of the box. I can get a lot of guitars in one of them boxes. Once the guitars in the box, I put more blankets around them. I do put them on the truck. So far I have not had anything happen to them. I hope this is the last time I have to move.

Looks like we are getting to move in sooner than we planed. We will be moving on the 10th. So, I may not be on here much until after the move.
We have been packing and have it almost done. This time packing has taken a lot out of us. I so hope this will be the last time.

Almost there. I am almost done with unpacking the boxes in the shop. Trying to figure out where to put things is a huge job. But I am getting there. It won't be long before I'll be up and running again. It will be so nice to have the room to mover around in and not have to keep moving things around to use them.
I have to say got got a huge blessing yesterday. Our land lord's son was by. He has the other side of the shop until he get his new shop done. He told me the I can move his stuff and make my space even bigger. But, as we were talking he asked me if I had any use for a Thickness planer. I said sure! So he gave me a brand new one still sealed in a box! WOW! Brand NEW!!! Yep He gave it to me! How cool is that?! SO excited!
As soon as I can it the shop cleaned up some more I'll post some pictures.

pretty cool about all of it Eddie. But wow a brand new planner! I could not believe that he would give it to me. I was ready to make him an offer on it, when he said I could have it! I took it out of the box the other day and put the handle and collector on it. I have not fired it up yet. I had to run some electric over to it. I did that yesterday. I may get out there today and turn it on and run some wood through it.
It is the one form Harbor Freight. BUt WOW! I am not complaining! I'll be doing a video real soon on the new shop and maybe some video of our new place.
We are so loving the country life!

here are two pictures of our new place!
This is the front of the house looking from the drive way. The big tress you see in the back ground are Pecan tress.
This is a view from the side porch, looking out over the forest that is across the street.
We are loving our new place! I'll be posting some other pictures as I go long. And yes the sky's are so blue! LOL!

We are trying to get the land lord to sell us the place. But she wants to give it another year before she decides. Her son still has a lot of things stored here and she figures it will take him about a year to get it all cleared out. So we will see.
But it is so nice to be living here.
More to come! EB

No word from The Ponderosa (that's Spanish for "The map's on fire".) One can only speculate as to what he's building in there!
