Over the years of building custom guitars, I have tried to make my customers happy. I have built a lot of custom guitars for people. A whole lot of them. a lot of them I had never posted about. Out of all of them there is one that I made that I must have made that person mad at me for one reason or another. I have tried to reach out to him over and over the years. At one time I even tried to call him but he would not return my call at I think he ended up blocking me.
I know he must still scan through the stuff we post on here. I though of him the other day, I sent him a message through the message board on here. But when I checked to see if got the message it is now gone.
The thing is how is someone like me supposed to know what went wrong if the customer wont let you know? I always stand by my work. I always will try and fix the problem or build a whole new guitar (if I made the guitar) if there was a major problem with it. I am human and I mess up once in a while. We all do. I really thought that he was a friend. I even told him before I started it that once he got it that if he was not happy with it, he could send it back and I'll fix or do what needed to be done to make him happy.
But no lets not say anything at all let me wonder in wonderland of what happened.
So, I guess he rather not give me a chance to make things right. All these years and it still bugs me. Maybe that is what he wanted. For what ever reasons.

I would say you made a good effort to make it right. What else can you do?

The prospect of having to deal with the general public moderated my career choices Eddie. (Not that I ever really had a "career" as such upon reflection!)
I would say that you've expended as much effort on this customer as any reasonable person would consider appropriate.
If that person does as you say read this Forum I would say to him, "What's your problem? What are you afraid of?"

I have had to deal with the public it seems all my life. I have always gone the extra mile to make people happy. But in business, I now I can't make everyone happy. No matter what I do to make as such, it's not going to happen.
It does sadden me though. That some choose not to be happy. Over the years I have not only redone jobs, but on top of that given them their money back in trying to make some happy. I don't for people to be mad at me over something that one can be fixed one way or another. Like I said I am always willing to go over and above to resolve a problem. Even if it means they take advantage of me.
But in collage I learned that some people are called red ant's. There is not much you can do with red ant's. These are people that no mater what, you can never make them happy. so in that class they tell you in most cases your better off to give them their money back and never do anything for them again. It is better to loose them as a customer then to keep putting up with them and their unhappiness.
So in saying this, I do realize I have done everything I can do. But it still bugs me when people will not respond and at lest let one know what the heck happened. that is what I would like to know, what happened? was there something I said, did? Guess I'll never know. EBCG
