A drummer that plays with us on and off gave this to me over a year ago (how many strats does he think I need?). I cleaned it up and put strings on it and shoved it to the back of the closet. Entering month 10 of the pandemic shutdown and running out of projects, I dug it back out a few weeks back. The frets were horrid so I spent days crowning and polishing by hand, i.e., no crowning file and no dremel tool. It now plays rather nicely and sounds ok but its a long way from stage worthy. If that was my goal I would have to install grover tuners, new pots and 5-way, add shielding and probably upgrade the tremelo block. As it is, its back to the closet. My next project is clean and lube my fishing tackle.

It's cool that he gave it to you. I didn't know crate made guitars.

I had one of them once. It's been a while. They can be made to play well. I agree about the up grades.

I didn't know crate made guitars...
Apparently Crate marketed a Jam pack sort of thing (according to the internet) with their small amps and put their name on these Chinese guitars. The cavities are really rough. not recommended!!

The cavities are really rough. not recommended!! Seen a lot of that ruff routing on low end guitars. I use to get guitars like this and do a set up on them and give them to young people that could not afford a guitar and was wanting to learn. I have done that with Squier guitars and other brands.
But yes Crate got into guitars. I don't know if they still make them or not. I was never one to fallow all that. I do know they didn't sell for a lot. Even Fender got into that "Jam Pack" stuff for a while. Are they still doing stuff like that today? I haven't seen anything in the stores at Christmas time. Hum...
