Today my wife and I went to Low's hardware. And I found this Teak wood (laminated) It is 1" thick and there is enough wood to cut out two body slabs. I can glue the two together to make it thick enough for a full guitar body.
If this build comes out good enough, this will be going up for action.
Here is another project I'll be doing. It falls on lines of cigar box guitar making. My wife was going to through this maple cutting board away. So I kept it to make a guitar out of. I still have that other neck that can't be used for a 6 string. But I sure can make a 5 string guitar out it. This will be for fun. I don't plan on putting a lot of money into it. But should be a lot of fun to do.
I may go back next week and buy another plank of that teak wood. For me it's to inexpensive not to get more.
There ya go! Two more builds in the future. I need to source some wood for the neck for the teak wood, thinking maybe mahogany, or maple, I'll have to see what I come across.

Sourcing guitar wood can be a large pain in the butt. I've always hated that I build my first guitar, a Tele, out of 4 pieces of alder. Edge to edge and top to bottom. But years later I saw that Gibson made slab LPs. Also laminating top to bottom. Three pieces I think. Anyway I'm still completely happy about my tele but you gotta do what you gotta do. And any wood that's called guitar wood is way over priced.

Yep! Even some of the people I use to buy from have now caught on to "guitar tone wood" It's like putting vintage in front of stuff you want to sell. But prices have gone up a lot from my first build. Use to be able to buy Alder for like $40.00 with free shipping. Not anymore.
But even though the Teak wood is multi teak wood, it should be good to go. I went back today and bought another slab of it. They were almost out of it. Yesterday they had like 5 cases and a lot on the shelf. Today the shelf was empty and the cases only had a few of them left. I have a feeling that once it's gone it's gone.
Talking about sourcing woods, I have even seen some on CL now calling it "guitar tone wood". I know when I was in AZ look for wood, I never said what I was doing with it. LOL! I had a guy ask me once and like a knucklehead I told him before he gave me a price. I wound up not buying from him cause he was asking way to much. But a friend went over and bough the wood and got a really good price on it. He would up giving me some of that wood. So it all worked out. LOL!
