Thanks guys! Boy I am sore today. I used mussels I forgot I had! LOL! But it's all good.
Not going to do a lot today. I have another idea for the fret board inlays. So I might work on that today. I might also try and get the templates done. I can't really set the neck into the body until I get the bridge. I don't like to rout the neck pocket without the bridge.
This neck may have to go a little deeper do to how thick the fret board is. By the time I put frets in it, it will be even thicker. So I feel it's a good idea to wait on the bridge.
I may not do any inlays on the fret board. This rosewood fret board is stunning on it's own. One of the best looking rosewood boards I have had in a long time. I may order a few more of them from the guy I got this one from.
Thanks for the input guys.

I hope all of you are having a great weekend. I know a lot of people have a 4 day weekend from work. Guess that is what I am doing. Not much going on but putting the finishing touches of decorating the house for Christmas. My wife really loves Christmas. She is in her happy place when it comes to Christmas. It makes me feel so good to see her happy!
I will be getting back at it after Sunday. I hope all of you got lots and lot of good things to eat and were able to share with family and friends. This year has been so out of wack. But we can still chose to be happy. I know Christmas can be a hard time of year for a lot of people. So, be kind to all that you meet. You never know what one may be going through.
See you all next week! EB

OK all, it wont be long before I get back on this build. I finally got to order some parts for this. They should all be here by the 17th. Once I get the new bridge, I will be able to figure out the depth of the neck pocket. I also ordered the pots, Tuners, input jack and plate, knobs, and so on. I hope that the weather will let me work on on it once the parts get here. Remember my little shop is outside on the patio.

Well! Aint that something! Went to use my desktop sander and a bearing went out. So, I went and bought me a new one. I may at some point take the old one apart and see if I can fix it.
I had to put it together (of course) Took a little time. I hope to be back on this build sometime this weekend. See how things go. We are supposed to get some more rain. So, I don't know how much work If any I can get done.
The acoustic is staying put so far. I played on it this morning. Everything is staying right where I put it.

Always something but it would cost more to fix then the new one. Especially if you hire it done.

Here is 2 new tools I bought!
My new sander.
I bought this to see if it would help in drilling the string through holes needed for the bridge. My drill press is to small to reach where I need the holes to go. I will be doing some expermints to see if it will work out. If not I have other ways to do it. I can also used this tool on other wood projects.

I did a little bit today...
I went ahead and put in the SS frets today.
I could not bring myself to do inlays on this fret board. Oh, I tried. I put all kinds of different inlays on the board, but none of them looked right. So, I went with out them.
I found an easier way to file off the ends of the frets. I use my new sander, I used the 6" disk on the sander. It took the fret ends down fast. I tried to file them off first but it was taking to long. I had only one fret that wound up being a little high. According to the fret rocker that is. So I filed it down and re-crowned it. We will find out how true the frets are once I get the guitar done and strung up. LOL!
Trying to do things while waiting on the parts to come in. Some did come in but not the one thing I need the most. The bridge. Looks like I'll be waiting on that too. This time, it's one of them that advertise on eBay and saying they are here in the USA. But they are not! They are from China! I don't see how eBay lets them get away with this. So, my bridge is coming for China this time.
So if buying on eBay check everything out before buying. But I thought that I did, but I didn't look deep enough. You can't trust anyone!
So, I may order another bridge, I'm getting to where I don't want to buy from anyone. I did get my money back from eBay on the last bridge. But it took a long time.
Well, anyways... Felt good to do something with this build. I may do some work on the body this week. I need to finish off the fret ends. I'll be doing that as well.
Here are some tips on how I install the frets; The fret wire I bought came pre-bent to 12" radius. That was cool, I didn't have to bend them.
What I like to do is install my frets one at a time. I like to cut the fret and install it right away. I don't cut all the frets and then install. It's the way I have been doing it and it seems to work out for me.
What I do is cut the fret wire to length, then I put some thin set CA glue in the slot. I then hammer one end then the other and hammer in the middle out. I clean off the glue, then I check to make sure that the fret is all the way down on the fret board. I use my finger nail to see if I can get under the fret. If I can that means it's not seated all the way down. So, I use my hammer and smack it down. Once you have done this a few times you can start to hear if the fret is all the way in. But I still check it.
once I get 3 in I also start to check to see if the frets are level as I go along. I also check them for level once I have them all in. Like I said I found only one that for what ever reasons was a tiny bit high. So I filed it, re-crowned it.
SS frets do take some extra work to file and to re-crown. This is my second time working with SS frets. But, I have to say I like them! To me they seem to go in better than non SS frets.
I'll wait to polish the frets. I'll wait until the guitar is almost done.
So, that is it for now... EB

I like stainless-steel frets too Eddie but as you say- stainless-steel is less fun to work with. There's different grades of it too, some high carbon stainless-steel is even magnetic! I used to avoid it at work if I could because it dulled the cutting edges of my precious Gilbows (tin snips, but not like "Wizz" snips) or even worse- put notches along the cutting edges.
My Warmoth necks on the Tele and Strat have stainless-steel frets because I specified them. On my Schecter body S-type, I had to resort to a repair man / maker to tease it into playability and he insisted the frets were way too high and that I had to double the outlay for a dress down, re-crown and polish. I accepted that he knew better than me so I swallowed it, but I didn't tell him they were stainless-steel frets ... He made a superb job but he ignored my request for an 11 thou' string set (I even left a packet in the case for him) and he set it up for 10s. That made me cross but hey it was a great set up far better than I could do. I sure wish I had the skills of you guys on here! By the time I've finished this post, your bridge will have arrived!
