All -
I have always loved the 1970s Ibanez/Fugigen "lawsuit" guitars. I walked into a local shop on Saturday and found a '75-77 Aria LS-6s copy. This one is really different -- it has a set-neck. Yes, I bought it.
All of the ones I've ever seen have a bolt-on neck but this one is almost exactly like a Gibson of the era including the harmonica bridge. The electronics have been changed -- a Duncan in the neck and a Dimarzio in the bridge -- and it looks like the original pickup covers were put on the newer pickups. In addition, newer CTS pots and an orange drop cap were in the control cavity.
Will post a photo later, but be on the lookout: these are some great guitars.

That sounds drool-worthy John. I too am a big fan of Fuji Gen Gakki. I have a thing for Yamaha as you know. Back in the 1970s, those Arias were insanely good VFM and the quality at the price point was undeniable. They undercut the Ibanez range that were already awesome VFM and quality. The Aria "Lesters" had a top bout that curved back around just a tiny bit compared to a Gibson, and the slightly tapering headstock was distinctive too. The guitar player in The BoomTown Rats used to play a signature Aria like that.
A colleague at the time borrowed my Moog Prodigy synth and left me his SB1000 bass as collateral. It was a stunning instrument that dripped great design all over the place. I was jonesing for a fretless version. I seriously hoped he'd forget about it but that didn't happen. (I sold the Moog in the mid 1980s but I regret that too now.) I'm looking forward to any snippets regarding your "new' Aria John.

Here is a front and rear shot. Will do some sound clips...changed the Dimarzio out for an old Duncan 59 Bridge pickup...much better. Yes, it has a set neck. John

Good catch. It has the flavour of a Gibson Marauder about it? Good call on the SD too although I can readily think of a better manufacturer ... I was never a great fan of Larry DiMarzio's pickups, but a lot of that is due to being a victim of marketing. SD tried to occupy the "vintage" niche while DiMarzio leaned towards the higher output designs? Whatever, it's the sort of guitar I would have difficulty in walking past!
