Today is my birthday. I got sick over the weekend. Doctor put on some stuff that seems to be helping.
But today I sold off my last two acoustic guitars. Now I am without an acoustic. Not sure if I'll get another one or not. I don't play them all that much. One reason is I no longer play out have have no real need for them.
The other reason they have been hard on me to play with my condition.
But anyway, I wound up selling both to one person. I prove this to myself time after time. If a guitar is set up right, it will sell the guitar. This is the 6th time now that people have bought more than one guitar from me. Mostly because of how well the guitar is set up. The other things is because of how clean my guitars are that I sell.
Seems once people play the guitars they want them. That is want happened today. The guy played them both and he wound up buying them.
I don't care if it's an acoustic guitar, or an electric, If they are set up well, they will sell.
It was nice once again to have sold these and trade for something else.
What is in the future for acoustic guitars for me? I really can't say... Maybe if a good deal comes around I might get another.
Not really looking for anything at this point on any guitar or amps. But I now have a big hole in the closet... HUm... EB

I find I play acoustics almost exclusively these days Eddie. It's daft that I bought a detached house just so I could wind the wick up on the amps, yet I now find that I can't stand the noise for very long. Old(er) age I guess. (Some folks to play with could turn that situation on its head though.) You are correct that a nice set up is very beguiling. Well done for selling them.

I think I might get me one of them Tele acoustics. I had one when I was AZ, but sold it right before I left there. I liked it because of the thin body and plugged in it sounded great! I turned 66 today. I don't play as loud as I was did. But when no one is home I have been known to turn it up some! LOL!!!
Playing a full size acoustic really gets to me these days. I have even sold off all of my jazz guitars for the same reason.
Like I said, I don't know what is in the future for me a guitars. But we will see...

Happy Birthday Eddie! Hope you're having a good one! Glad you you able to sell those guitars. Agreed the set would help them to sell for sure. That rule of thumb doesn't hold true for new one off electric guitars apparently. I can't tell you how many times I've had someone tell me "that's the best feeling neck I've ever played" or "man this guitar sounds and plays great" or "this guitar is amazing and the finish is beautiful". Then they add "but I never pay more than 500$ for a guitar. And I want to say "but you've never played a neck like this before!"
Into the acoustic vs electric discussion. I find I play electric most often when I play out somewhere. Which is at church or once a month at recovery group. And the recovery group can go acoustic in a heart beat if my drummer has to go box drum for some reason. But at home if I'm trying to figure out a chord progression or if a song is in the right key for me to sing then I grab an acoustic. Mainly because I don't want to set up for electric. Although I bought a looper hoping it would get to practice more. So I do test drive some of my repair or set up work through the looper and the amp and call it practice.
Steve, I love it when you use words like beguiling. It's why you Brits sound so much smarter then us Yanks.

Happy Birthday, Eddie.
I play a lot of acoustic, but I love my Strat and Les Paul! 😆
Have a great day!

Thank you Dane, but American usage is one reason why your text books and instruction manuals are so much more readable than ours!
Oh- and Happy Birthday for yesterday Eddie. Although a genuine ommision, that was quite rude of me.

Thanks Guys!
Yep setting up to play my electrics does take a little bit to get them up and going. One reason I don't use pedals to often. A lot of times I just like to plug in an play.
Sometimes Dane, I will do the same with my electric guitars. I will sit and figure things out without even plugging in. One reason I was thinking of getting one them Acoustic like teles. The more I think about it, the more I may just have to get me another one of them. Hum...
It was sad to let go of the acoustics, but not heart braking.
As soon as I get over being sick, I'll get back on my 2 projects that I have been working on.
I have to say other than being sick the new drug that I am on seems to be working. My shakes and pain levels have gotten better. I don't know if I will ever be totally pain free, but even a little is better than nothing.
I almost bought a Guild acoustic guitar. But it had at one time had a broken neck. After seeing some up close pictures of it, I decided not to buy it. Who ever fixed it did not know what they were doing. To bad too... It was a 1967. But not worth the $800.00 price tag. To me it needs a new neck made for it. I didn't think the guy would have come down to the price I would have bought it for. But even if he did that would be another project guitar. LOL! Just what I need.
I also looked a Gibson Humming bird acoustic... Same thing, lots of damage and way over priced. Way out of my price range for a project guitar. I can't justify spending a lot of money on a guitar that needs a lot of work. This one someone had done a bad job of a neck reset. It also had some top cracks in it that some one tried to fix. Key word tried to fix. What a mess. It was from the 70's at least that is what was in the ad.
These two guitar got me to thinking I might have sold my 2 to cheap! LOL!
Sure seems to be a lot of junk out there. So sad to see so many that are messed up by someone that does not know how to fix guitars. Be better if they had left them alone and sold them with the damage that trying to fix them and then sell them. I don't think they are helping to sell them by trying to fix them.
Well anyway... I did have a great day of people calling me and IMing me and texting me on my birthday. That in it self was awesome! Sometimes we all need to know that people are at least thinking of ya!
Thanks again for the happy birthdays!
