I liked it too. Well worth a view, however, he's focusing on just the guitar. His company is there to make a living for half a dozen artisans without exploitation but that same living funds the employees' interaction with so many other areas of commerce. As he kept saying- where do you draw the line? It's no good being holier than thou about it and then purchasing factory made jeans or battery hen eggs or antibiotic reared burger meat or burning fossil fuel at home, work or in cars. I absolutely agree that guitars are too cheap, but if they were not then there would not be such a massive market which spawns niche businesses as a side effect. How many Finnish folk would be hemming and hawing over dropping (eg) $3,500 or $8,000 on a guitar? I reckon not sufficient to provide a living for bespoke luthiers. No way am I in disagreement with him, it's just that you have to have one end of the genre to throw the other end into perspective. A symbiotic relationship if you will. Whatever the rights or wrongs of it, it's certain that we've never had it so good and we can thank the big guns for creating that situation. The niche market can then mop up those in it for the long run and everyone should be happy. $0.02 of course, there's bound to be other points that will dilute my thoughts.
