Well, of course it always has to be subjective doesn't it? This clip is of a UK based covers band called BeSharp. They would crucify me for that statement because they are so much more than a covers band, but you can see them usually for free in pubs around London and the south east. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvJh9W6VB5UThis piece- "5 Miles Above" was written by the bass player Dave, but he passed many years ago. They still play it in the set in deference to him. But the interesting thing for us lot is that Jerry made his own guitar and although he usually has a Strat as a back up, I've never seen him play any other guitar than the one in the video. Even if it's not your cup of tea, I still reckon that he knows his scales and plays fluently, impressively and effortlessly. What you can't see is that he is also handling a multi-way midi controller pedal on the floor. Jerry's a nice guy too.

They do at least a couple of Steely Dan numbers each time and those are not for lightweights like your scribe. House Burning Down, Criss Town Traffic and so on are performed with applomb and here's the thing- as with all their covered material, I marvel at how well they do them. At my 50th birthday party, I played their CDs one after the other all day and night and no one noticed that they were not originals. The only other original that I'm aware of is one called "The Trap" Best beloved uaually gets roped in to carry the beer jug around the pub for them. Enough already! Neat guitar though.

For another very good cover band check out Lexington Lab Band. Lots of YouTube stuff on them.

Great heads-up Dane. I'm still ploughing through them on YouTube! The Dan covers are great. What's impressive is that you get the feeling that they could take on just about anything. I've passed a link on to my gig-going buddy.
