Hi all,
I am getting rid of my Carvin Belair 212, it is too much amp for me, and I just got a full time job as an apartment manager, so it is wayyyyy to loud. I don't gig, so I selling/trading it to finance a smaller apartment friendly amp.
I got offered a Paul Cochran The Tim, Fulltone Plimsoul, and a Wampler Plexi Drive (all three together) as a straight up trade. I was surprised, as all three are high end, and it is a fair trade numbers wise.
I still have an amp (Fender Super Champ XD, and a PODxt, Also, not digging the sound anymore. I was not thinking of getting distortion pedals, but all three are high end, and easier to resell to finance my next amp purchase (thinking a Blackstar Ht-1R combo, Vox AC4TV, Bugera V5, or an Egnater Detroit 5 combo when it comes out (depending on cost).
Any thoughts would be great!

When I make deals on things, I am not always looking to get what it's worth. I look at it from the stand point am I getting what I want. Sometimes I come out ahead and some times I don't. But I get what I want or need at the time. If I get a good deal then I more times then not will pass on a good deal to someone else when it comes time for me to let go of the thing I got the good deal on. I got out of pedals a long time ago so I'm no help there. But I would deal the same way. As long as I was getting what I want. But keep in mind if something is worth lets say 1000 dollars I would not trade for something only worth 30 dollars. Unless the person is willing to come up in money or add something to the trade. But the amp sounds like a good trade. I would check it out and play on it for a while to see if there is something wrong with it. Just fallow your gut when trading things out you'll be alright!

Thanks. I was surprised by the quality of the trade, the Tim and the Wampler are hand wired, small batch pedals, The Tim has a 3 month waiting list! and Fulltone is no slouch either.
I was not thinking I would be offered such quality stuff. I would more than likely keep them for a bit, see which one I liked the best (my own Marshall GV2 in the mix as well) and then sell the remaining. I think it would be easier to sell the pedals than the amp

Check the completed sales for those pedals on ebay to find out what people are really willing to pay.
If my memory is clear, the Craigslist price for the smallest used Carvin tube amp, is $300. So it seems like your 212 would be about $500. That sound right?
If you can buy just what you want with the money you could get selling the amp, then sell the amp. An AC4TV combo is $250 new. So you could get an amp and more for the Carvin.
I have a hankerin for one of those Voxes.

The amp is $600 new with digital reverb, mine actually has a tube driven full spring reverb tank.
The amps are going for $400-450 used, which is a steal for this much amp. However Carvin product have a terrible resale market, as few have actually tried them out as they are not in stores. I am waiting to make my purchase amp-wise until I see the price/hear the Egnater Detriot 5. It has all the features I want, but not sure what the price will be. Egnater tells me it will be out some time this summer.
I like the attenuator on the Vox, although I would like some more tone shaping knobs, or two channels, but the price is right.
I am thinking of taking the trade, as the pedals will be easier to resell than the amp.
Thanks for the thoughts, more would be appreciated!
Also got offered a Epi Les Paul Custom Flame top, but I already have a Gibson Les Paul Classic. although the Epi is gorgeous!
