Wow it looks awesome! Does it have a Maple fretboard? The offsetting colours really work well! Congrats!

Thanks. Yes, it has a maple fretboard. The switch is junk. Plugged in it sounds like Rice Krispies with a squeal to boot. Gonna replace the switch and will wax pot the pickups too. The action and bridge adjusting is a bit of a challenge too. Intonation is 20 cents off on each string too.

I have the pickups back out, wax-potted them (first time trying this, hope it fixes the squeal), got a switchcraft switch and a new 500k pot (seems ok, but might as well do that too while "under the hood." Waiting on shims for saddle and nut (action is a little funky), and wanted those just in case. All in all a very interesting and educational project so far. I'm probably about 65% there.

Well done...thanks for sharing
Now that you're hooked, what are you planning for your next project?

Thanks all! This project has been pretty positive. The electronics were a bummer, wanted to rock out with my $*&% out as soon as I got it strung up, lol. I know Gibson's don't play out the gate without being set up and adjusted. Was hoping that maybe my $184 kit would be the white buffalo and play like a dream without set up lol. My NEXT project? Thinking either the Lunatic (5150) from BYOGuitar or Pit Bull's MK2 (Mosrite Ventures). Think I want a paint rather than a stain project this time. Luckily, I have a girlfriend who talks me INTO projects and buying stuff instead of the opposite!

Getting out the ol' soldering iron today I think, and getting to work!

Sure is a neat looking axe build. My one figures that since I don't smoke, I'm not down the pub, at a pole dancing club or in the bookies, she doesn't mind too much. Anyways, I have to put up with all her cake baking!
