I know what it is! It's the fact that the two necks seem closer together. On the SG type, they look so wide spaced to me. Perhaps it's the nature of the SG as a base and hence an optical illusion, but this is the first double neck that I've looked at more than once. Again- great work John. Steve.

Steve. e&oe Steve -- The necks are actually pretty close together, but it is not much closer than the "SG" doubleneck Gibson still makes. It is very similar to an old Ibanez Artist I had the chance to play. The downside is that it makes string changes challenging; the position of the inside tuners preclude using a string winder! Good old finger power. I spent a great deal of time getting the guitar playing properly before I completed the finish. I also used one of the FreeWay switches in the wiring scheme. It is a six-position switch which looks like a Gibson three-position switch. It allowed me to access all pickups and both necks with a single switch. John

Six position switch, ah, I was wondering about not having the switch between the two halves like the Gibby.

Thanks for the compliments...really appreciate them.
I put a set of "Made in W. Germany" mini Schallers on the six string neck. I got them on eBay and they were like new. I built that neck originally for mini Grovers, and the posts on the Schallers are much taller. I wound the strings from top to bottom but I am getting rattles on the nut because of the string angle. I may have to put a retainer on the neck behind the nut like I used on the 12-string neck
The necks are holding their tune and the electronics are working well. I am getting some crackling out of the switch....time for some Deoxit.

Chris - this is my first build using that switch. Pretty cool...I tried to keep the controls clean. Didn't want it to have more switches than an old B-52!
