No need for fence, just cattle wire and a zapper. Chris

I got to drive several while I was Germany. Something about a Bimmer, pristine autobahn west of Dusseldorf, and no traffic that was about as close to "Automotive Nirvana" as you can imagine! That must have been an experience! I've never had the chance to run anything wide open on the road, and I can't afford a car with any real power. The closest I've ever come was the time I got a speeding ticket in a Ford Tempo. Not exactly worthy of Car and Driver... Irishrover - I hope they bring the hammer down on the knuckleheads they arrested!

i get a rush in my daily driver in the mornings when the road is clear i can get it wound up pretty tight lol but ive yet been able to push any of mine anywhere close to the limit because the chips i run remove the speed limiter and resets the revlimiter to 8500rpms lol

How cool is that! I had a 69 Z28 I built from the ground up. I got in a street race once and the cop that pulled me over said he clocked me at 142 and climbing.(on pump gas no Nos) He also said if I would have kept on going he would never caught me. That was the last time I ever went that fast. The wife made me sell the Z28. That car would do 11's in the 1/4 Not too bad it had full interior 475 HP. All built by me in my garage. Could have gone faster 1/4 mile but I need to change the gears in the rear end. Oh well, It was fun while it lasted.

So when did you get your license back? BTW I have a '64 Buick Riviera with factory 425 and dual quads. No idea on horsepower, Buick claimed 360 for the standard motor and the same for the dual quad motor. At any rate it'll run mid 14's all day long on 93 octane pump gas. Not too shabby for a Gentleman's hot rod. Chris

I always wanted a Riviera! The thing on getting pulled over was I was out running the Cop but I started to say to myself I need to pull over and face the music. So I pulled over and waited on him. He said he could not even give me a ticket because I was out of the car and he could not prove that it was me driving. (but I think he knew) It took him almost 2 min, to catch up to me. That's how far ahead I was. Those days I was young and dumb. I use to do a lot of street racing back then. I had lots of fast cars but when I think back on it even tho it was fun it was dumb to do the things I did back then. I had my shire of tickets. From a tail light not working to speeding (drag racing) But I could have hurt someone real bad. Anything could have happen to the car at any time. I let a friend of mine barrow one of my hot rods once. He got into a race and the front ball joint broke. He was lucky he didn't get hurt or hurt someone else. But what cause me to stop building fast cars was that my sister was killed in one of my hot rods. The car was hit two times head on. They had to pry my sister out of the car. She had fallen asleep at the wheel hit the gas instead of the brake lost control of the car. She was 39 years old. The other two cars that hit her the people in them lived but was hurt bad. That is when I had a wake up call.

We had a double fatality here last year when a kid in a Neon took on a kid in a Mustang. The kid in the Mustang lost control and ran off the road. He and his girlfriend were killed. The rocket scientist in the Neon just got sentenced to prison a few months ago.
When I lived in Phoenix and had just gotten a motocycle license, some guy on a Ninja challenged me at a red light. I rode a Yamaha Virago at the time, and figured I could give him a run for his money with the shaft drive and dual carbs. I was stupid enough to take him on, but came to my senses after 200 yards or so when I remembered I was taking full advantage of Arizona's lack of a helmet law, and didn't want my DNA embedded in Chandler Blvd.
It's funny how good sense can hit you out of the blue.

There aren't enough letters in this little box to tell you guys about all the incredibly stupid dangerous things I did behind the the wheel of my 30' Model A 5 window coupe. That was between 16 and 20 years old. In my early 20's I was hot lapping my buddy's Vette doin about 90 mph on a residential street. Cars parked close on both sides of the road and I thought " if a kid runs out between these cars he's a goner". It's funny how you drive like a complete maniac and never have that occur to you. I was just out having fun. Well I shut the Vette down and stopped driving like that in town. I started driving like that in the dirt in a hot rodded 66' Landcruiser. dane

Funny how we all come to that realization WHILE doing something stupid!! LOL I wish I hadn't made the mistakes I have done behind the wheel. Never hurt anyone, but have had a couple of speeding tickets over the years. It's the things I did but got away with that I'm ashamed of. Chris
