Dnic, count your blessings! However, there are worse bands than the Jonas Brothers. Avril Lavigne comes to mind. Shattered, yes, the Beatles were bagged on as was Elvis. My Grandfather HATED Sly and the Family Stone, and my Dad liked about 50% of my music when I was a teen. The more distorted the guitars the less he liked it. Funny, now I like about 50% of my kids music. Chris

Boy I can still hear my Dad going on about the Beatles. But you right I can remember going on at my kids and there music at the same time telling them the same thing my Dad was going on at me about. Seemed strange to hear the same words coming out of my mouth. Back in the day I never thought I would be that way towards my kids. Now I have grand kids My Granddaughter loves the Jonas Brothers she is 8 years old but she also loves the music from my day. She is a real talented 8 year.

Hehehe, after thinking over the weekend, I think comparing the J. Brothers to the Beatles was sort of unfair to the Beatles....

Keep in mind that the eldest Jonas, Kevin, is the same age now (22) as Sir Paul McCartney was when the Beatles played on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. And Joe Jonas at 20 is about the same age as George Harrison was on that "really big shew". Kind of puts their whole musical enterprise into perspective. John

I was listening to Sgt Peppers over the weekend and thought, holy crap, those boys were 20 years younger than I am now when they did that!
I wonder how much of what they were doing was pure genius and how much was just lack of fear to experiment and see what happens.

The imagery in a lot of those lyrics couldn't have come from anywhere else. If any of them was a genius, it was Sir George Martin, IMO. To take something like, "make me sound like a yogi chanting on a hill", and make it actually work using 8 track technology... that's genius.

Chris I think a lot of it was lack of fear...kind of like that guy at work who knows he won't get fired, or doesn't care, and has this crazy swagger, even around The Man. I think the Beatles were so sucessful in such a short period of time that it gave them not only an incredible boost of confidence/arrogance, but also the security to know that they could fail and still be OK. I do think Sir George Martin had a huge part to play in the entire formula. I also think Sir Paul is one of the great musicians and writers of our time. My opinion only, John

"I also think Sir Paul is one of the great musicians and writers of our time." I concur 100% John. I say look at their solo work. While the other two did some pretty good stuff, I'm excluding Ringo on purpose, and even though John had one of the best lyrics ever written "life is what happens when you're busy making other plans" I think Paul by far out preformed the others. IMO dane

Well I took a plunge and gave away one of my guitars to someone who is in the music field he knows a lot of people. I sent him my Tele the one with Flames on it. He fell in love with it. He has been playing since 1969 and told me he has never gotten a guitar where the action and the indentation was set dead spot on. He loves the way it feels and plays and sounds. I was so excites he likes it so much. It's my first custom I sent to anyone can't wait too see if I get anyone interested in my guitars. Just thought I would share this with you all...

i gave one away today. a older gentleman i met in college lost his home to a fire last week and lost everything he owned. i met him at a open mic night in huntington wva(i graduated from marshall) in 2001 and we became good friends. he fell inlove with a old martin i was beating around at the time. it was a '53 d18. i got a call from his daughter yesterday telling me about what happened. so i pulled the martin out of the acoustic room, did a setup and headed to huntington.
today i seen a grown man cry tears of joy. i know that old martin will have a good home till the end of time. im glad i had teh chance to do something for someone that has gave me so much.
