I had an old Korg Poly 800 Synthesizer that I wanted to part with, one of my co-workers suggested a trade for his Vantage Entertainer VE 470 semi-hollow body. We brought both instruments to work last week and made the trade. The binding on the guitar was loose in some places, it looked as though a puppy had been teething on the headstock and all of the gold plating was mostly a memory. I decided to give it a try anyway and took it home. Plugged it in and was pleasantly surprised at the action and tone. The pots are very clean though the switches are a little noisy. I haven't taken any pictures as yet, though it looks exactly like the ve470 on this page: www.matsumoku.org/models/vantage/ve/ve.html

Here's a bit of noodling I did late Saturday night to give an idea of some of the tones from this baby. Note, all tracks with the exception of the drum loop were done on the Vantage through a Digitech RP-250 connected to my laptop via USB, recorded with Audacity (Please excuse the choppy solo work, it was late...) alpha.redeemer.ca/~cknowles/media/Shuffling.mp3Chris

Why are all guitarists so hard on themselves? That my friend is a very nice track you laid down there. And is also why you will probably never here me play. That is also a very nice sounding guitar, weather or not some dog chewed on it. I am curious about the recording process. Audacity is a free online down load, right? Do you have a drum machine or were you able to get that on line as well? I don't have my ME-50 on hand so I don't if I can usb from that yet. In spite of what I said above I would like to know how to do it and up load it. dane

Yeah, I finally listened to your mp3. Pretty sweet. The guitar and playing! I like those Vantage guitars. It sounds like you made a good trade.

I went and got my me50 and there is no usb port so I guess that means I would have to get some sort of interface device to hook up to the pc. I have been going through some medical procedures and the bills are are piling up so any toys are for sure not happening any time soon. Crap! Gotta love doctors and hospitals and I'm doing my thing for the economy, but CRAP! dane

Thanks Guys for the support, I am my own worst critic. Keeps me working to improve. The Rp-250 has a USB port on it which takes over as my default audio device once it's plugged in. The RP has a built in drum machine which also does drum fills though I've not learned how to do that yet. Silly me, I just use it as a guitar processor! LOL Audacity is a free download, it does simple multi-tracking and has some excellent editing features. The process works like standard multi-tracking, I laid down the drum track and rhythm tracks as my first track, though I should have separated them. Second I chose a Bass emulator to transpose the guitar down an octave and laid the bass track. Finally, and this took the most time, I experimented with some solo work over the other 2 tracks. Nice thing with multi-tracking is that I can create several lead tracks and pick and choose the phrases that turn out. Chris
