Pure down picking is where you ONLY use down strokes. Alternate picking is where you alternate Down, Up, Down, Up; no matter what string you are on or what string you just came from. Economy picking is where you use a combination of alternate, down, and hammer-ons/pull-offs to achieve maximum speed. Fingerpicking is self-explanatory, you use the fingers on your right hand to do the picking. What type of picking do you use?? I personally use economy picking because - 1. This style feels the most natural to me, and 2. This style helps ME achieve maximum speed (here is where some people will disagree with me.) If you do not know or fully understand what economy picking is, take a look at this lesson www.ultimate-guitar.com/lessons/guitar_techniques/economy_picking.html This lesson gives a broad overview of economy picking. So, GuitarAttackers, what do you use?
