Hello new friends...
In another thread I started I was told to check out some pickups from guitarfetish.com. As I was shopping the site, I noticed that they sell Xaviere guitars. These guitars are priced extremely low and yet when I looked at reviews on harmony-central.com, there were people raving about them. Reviews on other sites were overwhemlingly positive as well.
I also "discovered" Agile guitars. Pretty reasonable prices there, too.
It just seems too good to be true.
Does anyone have one of these guitars? What do you think of it?

These guitars are of pretty good quality, and represent the best in Chinese manufacturing. I think they are great low-end guitars.

I'm of a mind to say that any guitar can be great. Whether it's a $100 Squier, or a Saga Kit, or a Fender Custom shop. All it takes is a little time and effort, especially with the low-end ones. Some just need a good setup, others may need a little more TLC, but usually with guitars, you get what you put into it.
That being said, I'm always tempted by those Rondo guitars

I guess that's why I don't think I'll ever buy a really expensive guitar: I always want to swap something out or personalize it somehow.
If I buy one of the Rondos, I can have that Les Paul style arch top with a maple fingerboard, EMG 81\85, and a Floyd trem.
Gibson will never make that guitar.
At least not for under $500.
So, no one here has any experience with one?

Check out this article from the Opinion Page. www.tuckandpatti.com/fault.htmlI remember when I got my first Les Paul back in high school, I was shocked to find that it didn't really make me play any better...but it was cool. I've found that the more I practice, the better the guitar sounds! That makes me smile John! So what you're saying is that even if I have the right gear I'm not going to sound like Les Paul, Chet Atkins or Eric Clapton? Kidding aside, I've always appreciated your philosophy toward the guitar and musicianship. Your statement reminded me of my favorite aunt. When I was learning to play the guitar, she was my greatest supporter. She had been a music teacher and encouraged me to practice, practice, practice. She always insisted that I take my guitar whenever we went to visit and would listen attentively as I tried to make good music. Then she'd totally dissect my performance and give me pointers for improvement. You'd think an 11 year old would cringe under such close scrutiny , but she had such a natural way about her that all I wanted to do was to make her proud of my playing.

I have this Douglas guitar from Rondo... www.rondomusic.com/product728.htmlBut mine has a "natural" finish. It looks and plays absolutely great! I'm very happy with it. The fit and finish were excellent, especially for a guitar that cost me under $150!!!

Well, I finally took the plunge. I ordered one of the least expensive guitars on rondomusic.com, the SX STL50 3TS Sunburst, a Tele copy. It cost $125 to get it to my door.
The overwhelming majority of reviews I read about it were very positive, as long as I was willing to have some patience with the setup. Seeing as I was going to buy a Saga kit in the first place, ten dollars more for an assembled guitar that I can tear apart and customize guilt free was a good deal.
Now, it's hurry up and wait.

acrowder: "You get what you put into it,"
I agree.
GuitarAttack Forum: Great article. I agree, but it never hurts to have good tools. I think that I'd rather have personalized tools than expensive ones.
Quarry: That was the clincher.
I'll let you know what I think when I get it!
