I drove to the local Guitar Center last night with the trusty GS in tow to try the new Line6/Bogner amp. Bottom line: Very impressive.
The crew at the store was very helpful. Tip: I always recommend going to a Guitar Center late on weeknights with your own guitar to check out amps. It is so loud on weekends you can't hear anything.
I plugged into the 2x12 40 watt version. I ran through all of the presets on the amp, and they sounded really great. What it reminded me of was a really nice tube amp with some killer pedals. It was really responsive to playing louder and softer on the guitar, and had some incredible gain. The clean tones were much better than the solid-state only Line6 amps, but it could have been my mind playing tricks because I love tubes! I didn't do a blind taste test, but it really did sound great.
I'll post a full review later, but you need to check one of these out.
Good luck, John

Has anybody else tried one of these yet? Looking for some feedback on likes/dislikes.
Thanks, John

I'm afraid to try new amps, because I know I'll end up finding one I want!
I came into some extra cash earlier this year, and got the Line 6 Spider III 15-watt. It's not bad, for solid state. I can live without a few of the onboard effects, especially the sweep echo and chorus. The chorus sounds just like the flange, in my opinion. However, I really like the clean/distortion settings, and the volume is a lot louder than I expected from an amp that size.
I'm not in a band anymore, and haven't played out in years, so it's perfect for playing at home. I'm a legend in my own basement!
I know this has nothing to do with the amp you're asking about, but I figured I'd just throw it out there.
BTW, good advice about bringing your own guitar.

A quick story about taking your own guitar....
I went by a local music store near where I used to live to try out a new Peavey Windsor half stack. I walked in and there were only couple of people in the store. After standing around for a few minutes I got the "may I help you" from one of the helpful staff. I asked to try out the Windsor, and, without asking a single question, the salesperson grabbed a Squier Strat off the wall and plugged it into the amp. He said, "Here ya go, and keep the volume down." I sat down and tried to play it, got disgusted, and walked out.
The Squier had a terrible setup, and I decided that I would take my own guitar in the future when it came time to try new amps.
If they won't let you bring your own guitar you don't need to buy from them anyway!
My opinion only, John
