I grew up, left, and came back to a small town in East central Indiana. I believe that Rick grew up in a town called union city Indiana/Ohio. A town that is half in Indiana and half in Ohio. Rick, I'm told, as it was a little before my time, would play at our National Guard Armory with his brother just before the "Hang On Sloopy" days. I never got to meet him, but the guy that ran the only music shop in town was acquainted with him through business contacts, and would tell stories. Rick Derringer "live" is one of my all time favorite "albums". I remember being around 12 and an older friend brought the album over, and it stayed on my "record" player for weeks. I would air guitar to it with a tennis racket for hours. Rick is one of the reasons i wanted to learn to play guitar. I have to admit that he looks better in the photograph with you than i have seen in years. With some of the other photos i had seen over the years, i would not have been surprised to hear that he had passed away. I guess he cleaned himself up, good for him. Thanks for letting me reminisce. Brian

Rick is a real icon, and I still listen to his stuff. Good to see a guy like him didn't die like so many of the rock guys from his era.
The midwest generated some great guitarists during the 60s and 70s....and I know there are still some greats out there!
Thanks John
