I'm in the process of rebuilding my "bedroom studio" which was previously used mainly for producing electronic music. I have played around with guitars for years, but never seriously. I can play well enough to get down an idea I want, but don't ask me to break it down for you or, heaven forbid, do it again. I have decided to try to become proficient and produce an album for internet sale over cdbaby, etc.
My guitar rig is as follows:
Yamaha FG-411 BL acoustic guitar. - This is one of those rare finds that was just bought as an inexpensive guitar, but I swear, with quality strings, this thing sounds as good as any Taylor or Martin I've ever heard. Now as for feel, well, let's just say it could use a pro set up.
Washburn Stevie Salas model electric guitar, x2. - I have no idea what model number it is or when or where it was made. I've made several attempts to find out via serial number to no avail. I bought it at the now defunct Hermes Music. They had a habit of mis-pricing things, often at a whopping discount. This guitar was priced at $60, so I bought two of them. It's an alder body, maple bolt on neck, rosewood, with SSH config, grover tuners and an actual Floyd Rose trem. They're reliable, but the p'ups are kinda weak.
Squier P-Bass aquired solely to record with. It does the job. Nothing special. It has crayon marks on it from my 2 year old.
Yamaha DG Stomp effects box. Decent box, 200 or so presets, not programmable. Has MIDI in\out, though which has come in handy. Vocals run through this thing can get pretty trippy.
Marshall MG15DFX practice amp. I play and record almost exclusivly through headphones.
DAW running Sonar, Acid 6, Sound Forge 8, and Cakewalk's Dimension Pro and Rapture soft synths, Lexicon Omega audio interface, Shure SM 58, Shure SM 57
Korg MS 2000 Synth, still trying to figure out a way to send a guitar signal through it. Heh.
Plan to add: Saga Tele and Les Paul custom painted and built to my specs, Reverend Warhawk HB guitar, Yamaha AES 520 Drop 6 or AES 620 guitar, Drum sampler software, new computer, new monitors, new MIDI controller, and some serious guitar lessons.
I have been practicing and writing a lot lately and I hope to have an album ready for self publishing by the end of next year.
