I've seen hand pump bags in videos but I think they are a little more heavy duty than the clothes bag. Couldn't hurt to do a test.? Well unless Nancy catches you!

We used to use a vacuum pump like that to test the pull on a waste water dump valve in the aircraft galleys. It was a fiddly process. (you don't want an open drain in a pressurised compartment!)
Regarding vacuuming generally, we had a table rather like a snooker table that had a hinged full size frame lid with 16 SWG rubber sheet stretched between it. We shut the lid and turned on the connected vacuum pump(s). We found that we had to put wadding over all the corners, edges and any pointed bits on the job to avoid puncturing the rubber sheet. Just a thought.

A dedicated vacuum station would be very nice indeed.
I use a thick screen to make sure the vacuum pulls down evenly and that helps protect the bag from sharp corners. But so far I've not needed to add any more padded than that. If I ever bag a V it will become necessary.
I recently made a bridge vacuum clamp that worked out very well.

A silver lining in every cloud. No gut cut on a Lester so it's not beyond the realms of conceivability to encounter a Strat like object similarly configured. Actually, my Yamaha SG2000 has belly relief and that is broadly speaking a double cut Lester. I think you have a discerning customer Dane.

So no cut was no big deal. And I guess the extra weight didn't matter either. Discerning yes, he watches my videos.

Classy work Dane. When I first assembled Leo types in the late 1970s, I had to file away some of the Kluson lugs to make one screw attach two machine heads. Nowadays we are spoilt!

Nowadays we are spoilt! e&oe ...Steve that is a very tight tolerance on the tuner lay out. Thus the steel template at exactly 15/16" C/C. (Fuzz warning) it could be a fuzz more and still work. I don't know what it is in MM. I don't know if you noticed the extra length at the end of the neck. But I have somewhere around 3.5" of glue surface in the neck pocket. I you might have asked about that in a prior post.

Well it turns out that if you remove the metal from the lugs up to a line straight through the attachment holes, you can butt them up end to end and locate them using one shared screw.I have noticed that it's trivial to buy them ready prepared that way these days. Perhaps you could back then, but I'm going back to days when it was difficult to buy such spare parts over here.
I just took that to be like a Gibson tenon joint Dane, and anyway- you have already told me that the neck joint went into / across the neck pickup rout when you posted those images inviting anyone to spot the "error". Now you're going to tell me it's a way to hold the neck whilst lacquering! No seriously, I know well enough by now that you have things covered.

Hey Steve I totally missed that you were talking about retrofitting a different tuner to a Fender. That would be fun indeed.
