New Parts day is always Fun! What does Fender call that Humbucker sized pickup? I know it's not a typical hummer. Was it "full spectrum" or something like that?

The neck [pickup is a 1/4 pound. Used on of them on a recent build.

Eddie -- I've repaired a number of old-time Fender full-range pickups. When you get the chance, can you take your meter and tell me what the resistance is on that new one? Interested in how close they are to the old ones. Thanks, John

Make sure to use a minimum 20,000 Ohm per Volt sensitivity meter Eddie (or preferably a digital) to avoid the meter loading the circuit under test. All that means by and large is not a five bucks RadioShack type.

But it not a cheap one as well. It does everything I need it to do. Someday when I grow up I'll have to get me an even better one. LOL!
Got the new turners in today and the push back wiring. Now I am waiting on the bridge. I was going to do some cutting today, but like always... it's raining. Grrrr!
So I may go in and get the specs on the pickup. John has made me curious.

OK, I had a complaint on the videos I have been doing. So, I thought I would ask you all. Do I need to get a mic so that it will pick up my voice better? Someone said they had to turn the volume all the way up to hear me speak, then turn the volume down when playing.
I went back and watched some of the videos but I did did not experience that on my end of things. I listened on my computer and on my phone. I really want to keep thinks simple as I can. I don't want to get into all the high tech stuff. If I can't keep things simple I may go back to taking pictures and leave it at that.
I was going to try and make videos of this build as I go along. But at the same time I am not going to spend time and money on up grading what and how I do things. Maybe a long while back I would have, But now I just want things simple.
So let me know what you all think? If I need to get a mic. I will need to know what kind and it would have to work with my iPhone.

Eddie I find your voice is delivered at a decent enough volume but sometimes there is too much scattered light (from windows?) Also, a change in camera angle(s) would make for a more comfortable viewing experience, and could take care of that visual clarity or "impact" as a bonus. Just ideas thrown into the mix from someone with no handle on the process.
It's true to say that some YouTube content is too low on volume, but that criticism applies equally to some uploaded music which is accompanied by still shots. I've long suspected that there might be a YouTube setting that uploaders can fiddle with to adjust the volume because an (illegally?) uploaded song from a commercial recording does not have a microphone setting to consider, yet they are still occasionally too quiet.
I'm not a gambling man but I suspect that John would know something about this given the superb standard of the recordings on that last EP (and about which it was hinted that there may be developments in availability!)

I think it helped the sound in closing the door to my guitar room. That cut out a lot of noise from my air conditioner. I have been moving the phone around as well, in trying to get best spot in the room to record in. I came up with something the other day. I'll see how that works out. But the videos I'll be doing for this build will be outside. So, I'll see how that goes. Don't know at this time if it will be a doable thing or not. Thanks for the input! EB

Eddie there will always be those folks that have all kinds of ways YOU CAN SPEND MORE MONEY to improve their free viewing experience.
I watched some videos when I bought my GoPro 7. to see what a good vlog set up would be. Of course that is different then recording in the shop. Some suggestions were a Lum cute style light for face lighting. A Rodes mini shotgun mic was supposed to be a better mic than the built in camera mic. It wasn't extremely expensive and it's been a while but I think it was around 500.
I've recorded with and without the light. I like it better without. I've recorded with and without the mic, the camera mic is louder and sounds as clear as the shotgun mic. So I don't bother with either.
I' going to have to get a lot more subs and a lot more views and make a lot more money from it all before I upgrade again. So far I've put a lot more into this whole YT exercise than I will probably ever recover. If it were a business plan it would be a very bad business plan.

Yep, think I am going to keep things the way they are for now. The YT videos for me is a fun way to share my guitars. I am going to try and record the build. I am going to try and keep it down as far as how long of a video. I would like to do short one. Some of the long ones I have seen become boring to me. Only because most of them are a lot of talking and not enough building going on. I think I want to keep them shorter too, because when I was preaching in the churches, I found that 15 to 30 min was top for most people to keep their attention. Once in a long while I would go over but not a lot. HA!
OK, today I think I can get some saw dust made. So off to the shop I go. Now were is my iPhone? EB

OK here is a test video. Still having some problems with the lighting. The sun is way bright today. I'll do another video here in a little bit.
